🏃‍♂️🏅 Run Di**le 2026 🏅🏃‍♀️

A very early start on Saturday morning for our Civil Defence volunteers supporting the Di**le Marathon.
We had just under 30 volunteers on duty throughout the event, providing comprehensive support to organisers, participants and spectators. Resources deployed included our ambulances, Bike Unit, Communications Team, and Welfare Unit (Mobile Kitchen), ensuring cover was available across the course from start to finish.
A special thank you to our colleagues from Cork West Civil Defence, who provided an ambulance crew and worked alongside our team throughout the day.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Run Di**le organisers for their professionalism and partnership in delivering another fantastic event.
Finally, a huge thank you to all our volunteers who gave up their Saturday, started before dawn, and worked tirelessly throughout the day to support this wonderful event. Your dedication and professionalism make these events possible.

🤝 Joint Training Exercise at Listowel Racecourse 🚤🚑🚒

Our volunteers recently took part in a successful joint exercise with Listowel Fire and Rescue at the Listowel Racecourse, providing a valuable opportunity to test and develop our emergency response capabilities in a realistic setting.
During the exercise, our Boat Crew, First Aid Crews, and Ambulance Crews were deployed to various locations around the racecourse to deal with a range of simulated casualties and incidents. We also had our Drone Unit in operation, along with our Communications Unit and Mobile Kitchen.
Exercises like these are essential in strengthening inter-agency cooperation and ensuring we are prepared to respond effectively when called upon.
A sincere thank you to Listowel Fire Service for their professionalism and teamwork, and to Listowel Racecourse for facilitating the exercise and providing an excellent venue.
👏 Well done to all the volunteers who gave their time and effort to make the exercise such a success 🙌

✅ Training Update

🚤🏊‍♂️Congratulations to the 12 Kerry Civil Defence volunteers who completed Personal Survival Techniques and Casualty Handling for Boat Crews training. This was held at the Killorglin Campus of Kerry College. A huge thank you to Kerry College for allowing us the use of their amazing facilities and supporting our volunteers, as well as to Civil Defence Ireland for organising the great course.

🚴‍♀️ We also had members successfully complete the Cycling Responders Course in our Headquarters in Tralee this weekend, further strengthening our emergency response capabilities. Well done to the attendees and to our instructor 🙌

🚒 Flooding Call Out 🚒

Yesterday evening we were activated by Kerry Fire and Rescue Service to assist them with Flooding in Killarney. Our Auxiliary Fire Service had a large crew of volunteers available on short notice and they helped to deliver sandbags to affected businesses and residents, as well as putting our 2 fire appliances to work. Massive thanks to our brilliant members and huge well done to all the Firefighters from Kerry Fire and Rescue Service for their great work throughout the town.

🚒 Fire Service RTC Training 🚒

We were delighted to be invited to Kerry Fire Service's Road Traffic Collision (RTC) training which took place in Killarney Fire Station last week. Our volunteers were casualties for the exercise and had to be extracted from the vehicles by the firefighters. We also provided drone footage of the exercise for the fire service.
Huge thanks to Kerry Fire and Rescue Service for having us and well done to all firefighters for getting our valuable members out safely 😅 Massive thanks to all our volunteers who attended this brilliant learning experience 😁👏

🌹 Féile Thrá Lí 🌹

From Friday 14th August through to the early hours of Tuesday 18th August, Kerry Civil Defence volunteers were proud to provide medical cover for Féile Thrá Lí, supporting the many events taking place throughout the festival. Our dedicated First Aid volunteers were on duty every day, with valued assistance from Limerick Civil Defence on Sunday, while our Ambulance crews provided cover each night into the early hours to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of festival-goers.
We were also delighted to take part in the Emergency Services Display on Saturday, organised by An Garda Síochána Kerry, which gave the public an opportunity to meet and learn more about the emergency services.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for their commitment, professionalism and countless hours of service throughout the festival. Well done also to all the organisers, event staff and partner agencies whose hard work made Féile Thrá Lí another fantastic success. 👏🚑💛

🐐 Puck Fair 2026 🐐

Kerry Civil Defence was proud to provide medical cover throughout this year's Puck Fair Festival. Our volunteers were on duty from 9am at the Horse Fair on Monday 10th August and provided overnight medical cover until 4am across all three nights of the festival, as well as as providing water safety via our Swiftwater Rescue Team on Wednesday night, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all.
A huge thank you to our colleagues from Limerick Civil Defence and Cork North and East Civil Defence for travelling to Kerry and assisting our crews throughout the festival. We would also like to congratulate the Puck Fair organisers on another successful event and extend our sincere thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time and commitment over the course of the week. Your dedication and teamwork are greatly appreciated. 🚑👏
