**Public Safety Message**

It has been a busy few days for our volunteers, responding to a number of incidents, including reports of missing children on Tramore Beach

With the fine weather continuing and more people visiting our beaches and coastline, we ask everyone to take a few simple precautions to help keep themselves and others safe:

🌊 Always keep children within sight and never leave them unattended near the water.
🛶 If you're heading out on the water, wear a suitable lifejacket or personal flotation device and check the weather and sea conditions before setting off.
🚫 Never block emergency access points, slipways, or entrances. These routes must remain clear at all times to allow emergency services to respond quickly.
🏖️ Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and always follow local safety advice and warning flags.

If you see someone in difficulty in or near the water, don't enter the water yourself unless it is safe to do so. Dial 999 or 112 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard

Your actions can make a vital difference. Enjoy the sunshine, respect the water, and help us keep our coastline safe for everyone.

At 11:40 p.m. tonight, we pause to remember the brave crew of Rescue 111 on the 27th anniversary of their tragic loss.

We remember:

• Captain Dave O'Flaherty
• Captain Michael (Mick) Baker
• Sergeant Paddy (Patrick) Mooney
• Corporal Niall Byrne

Twenty-seven years may have passed, but for many across the emergency services, the memories of that night remain as vivid as ever. Some of our own serving members still remember those events and the profound impact they had on the emergency services community.

Tonight, we honour four courageous men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others. Their professionalism, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting life will never be forgotten.

Gone, but never forgotten.

📟📟 **CALL OUT** 📟📟

This evening, the team received a call from MRCC Dublin requesting assistance for an elderly man who had dialled 999 after experiencing a mobility issue while walking in the Backstrand area of Tramore.

Team members John and Daithi responded immediately, made their way to the area, quickly located the gentleman, and safely assisted him back to the car park, where he was reunited with a member of his family.

Thankfully, the gentleman had his mobile phone with him, allowing him to raise the alarm and get the help he needed. This serves as an important reminder of the value of carrying a fully charged mobile phone when out walking, especially in more isolated areas.

We're delighted that this call had a safe and positive outcome.

After tonight's weekly training exercise, Volunteer Member Liam Power was presented with his 10 Years' Service Medal by our Sector Manager, Dermot Hickey, in recognition of a decade of dedicated service.

Congratulations to Liam on reaching this fantastic milestone. Thank you for your 10 years of commitment and service to your community and to the Irish Coast Guard. Your dedication is greatly appreciated.

📟📟 CALL OUT 📟📟

At 18:05, we were tasked by MRCC Dublin to assist Tramore Gardaí and the National Ambulance Service on Tramore Beach following reports of an unconscious female.

On arrival, the casualty was conscious and alert. She was assisted from the beach and transferred into the care of the National Ambulance Service for further assessment.

With the current hot weather, Tramore is extremely busy. We would like to remind everyone not to block emergency access points, as they may be needed at any time.

If you see anyone in difficulty along the coast or at sea, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.

This evening at 16:17, our pagers were activated by MRCC Dublin to assist the National Ambulance Service at Garrarus Beach with the evacuation of an unconscious female casualty.

Working alongside emergency service colleagues, the casualty was safely evacuated from the beach and transferred into the care of the National Ambulance Service.

We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
