Over the past three Saturdays, participants in the "Tales from Tubbercurry" workshops have been putting together this beautiful accordion book about life in and around Tubbercurry ๐Ÿ“š

These workshops, for 9-13 year olds, were organised by Kids' Own and facilitated by writer Miriam Needham and artist Anna Spearman โœ๐ŸŽจ

A big well done to the participants! Their book will be on display here in Tubbercurry Community Library for the next few weeks - please call in and take a look ๐Ÿ“–

Participants learned about coding and algorithms in a fun and interactive way, by having their "MouseBot" draw shapes and navigate mazes!

We were delighted to welcome Mary Cooper from Markree Woolcraft to Tubbercurry Community Library yesterday for a traditional Irish wool crafts demonstration ๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงถ

Mary spoke about the tradition of wool crafts in Ireland, shared tips and tricks for working with wool, explained the dyeing process and demonstrated some spinning techniques โ˜บ๏ธ

A sneak peak at some of the lovely artwork completed yesterday in Tubbercurry Community Library by participants in the Tales from Tubbercurry workshop run by Kids' Own ๐ŸŽจ

Across three Saturday workshops, young artists and storytellers aged 9-13 are experimenting with drawing, writing and bookmaking alongside professional artist Anna Spearman and writer Miriam Needham. Together, they will create their very own handmade book! ๐Ÿ“–

As part of National Heritage Week 2026, Tubbercurry Community Library are delighted to host a special presentation and demonstration from Mary Cooper of Markree Woolcraft on her expert work in traditional Irish wool crafts:

Drawing on her extensive knowledge and experience, Mary will share the rich heritage of Irish wool crafts while demonstrating traditional techniques.

Specialising in Irish wool products for spinners, felters, and knitters, she is passionate about preserving and promoting these time-honoured skills.

Whether youโ€™re a seasoned crafter or simply curious about Irelandโ€™s rich textile traditions, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the artistry and heritage behind Irish woolcraft.
