⭐⭐ Summer Stars 2026! ⭐⭐

Summer Stars is back in Tubbercurry Community Library for 2026!

Summer Stars is an exciting reading-based programme which encourages children to visit the library during their summer holidays. Summer Stars is open to all children across the country, with no restrictions on how many books must be read 😊

For each visit to their local library, children will receive a FREE reward.
The rewards this year include a colourful drawstring bag, an activity book, a bookmark and a sticker 🎒

We are also running four competitions as part of Summer Stars, including Design a Bookmark and a Comic Book competition ✍

With the summer holidays just around the corner, why not bring your child into the library to sign up for Summer Stars? It is completely FREE to join, and is an excellent way to encourage children to keep up their reading over the summer! 📚

⚽ Calling all football fans for The World Cup of Books! ⚽

Sligo Libraries have organised a World Cup of Books initiative to coincide with the World Cup taking place this summer, using the Ultimate Football Heroes series of books 📚

The initiative is taking place between June 2nd and August 8th.

Structured like the FIFA World Cup, the initiative features 32 titles of top footballers divided into eight groups 📖

Each book will compete in a World Cup style format – Group Stages, Knock Out Rounds, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final 📘

Along with checking out the books, children can also vote on a rotating wallchart of football players, which will add to the overall statistics. Call in to Tubbercurry Community Library to see our display and vote for your favourites! ☺️

The book with the most combined loans and votes in the final round will be crowned the World Cup of Books Champion 🏆

MSLETB's Sligo Adult Guidance Service will hold an information session in Tubbercurry Community Library from 10am to 1pm on Thursday 18th June.

This is a drop-in session, so no appointment is required.

The information session is aimed at anyone who is interested in upskilling, changing career, returning to education or furthering their education.

Come along at any time between 10am and 1pm and find out how the Adult Guidance Service can help you. All welcome!

🎈Cruinniú na nÓg 2026!🎈

🎉We had a fantastic range of events in Tubbercurry Community Library today for Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people🎉

Firstly we were joined by Sarah O'Keefe for the Anything-Can-Happen Story workshop. Participants used their imagination to create some wonderful stories! ✍

Then Niall de Búrca treated us to an excellent storytelling session, full of fun, laughter, twists and turns! ☺️

Lastly there was great excitement for Jay Ryan's Interactive Science Show. The children learned lots of scientific facts, and took part in some fascinating experiments! 🧪

And, of course, everyone enjoyed an ice-cream! 🍦

A big thank you to our facilitators for the brilliant events, and a special thank you to all of the children who came along with their families. We hope you enjoyed exploring your creativity with us today! ✨
