There’s a great buzz around Waterford tonight, with plenty of people enjoying the long evenings & making the most of the long weekend.

We’ll be out along the quays and surrounding areas until the early hours helping to ensure everyone makes it home safe 💙

Our volunteers are now preparing for Patrol number one of the June bank holiday weekend.

The weather isn’t quite playing ball this evening, but that hasn’t stopped people making the most of the long weekend, and there’s a great atmosphere around Waterford 🙌🏻

As the city settles into the night, we’ll be out on patrol along the quays and surrounding areas until the early hours, there if anyone needs us ❤️

The last week has been incredibly difficult for many people and businesses in Waterford, and we know some are now trying to work out practical next steps while everything settles.

At WMSAR HQ, we have some meeting and communal space that we’re happy to make available where possible to anyone affected who may need it.

We’re a working search & rescue base first and foremost, so availability will depend on operations, but if we can help, we will.

The inaugural ‘National Search & Rescue Drone Conference’ took place this weekend at WMSAR HQ, bringing together SAR teams from across Ireland to share knowledge, experiences, and best practice in the use of drones in search and rescue.

Enda Walsh (IAA), Paul Trimble (Sky Watch Northern Ireland), and Mark Prendergast (Safe Drone Academy).
We really appreciate you giving your time and sharing your expertise.

Thanks as well to everyone who attended, including representatives from local and national Coast Guard units, Mallow SAR, South East Mountain Rescue, Oranmore Coastal Search Unit, Tipperary SAR, and WMSAR.

A brilliant weekend of learning, information-sharing, and connecting with multi-agency drone SAR units nationwide.

This was the first of its kind, and it’s only the beginning 🙌🏻
