We're more than a little behind on our blogs these days but today we're looking at the Viking Slave Trade!

When Vikings first came to our shores all the way back in 795 one of the major things they were after were slaves. Indeed even today, many people in former Viking settlements like Iceland have Irish DNA due to the thousands of Irish people carried off on longships to far flung places.

Why were slaves crucial to Viking Society? What were their lives like? And more interestingly still, what were their (often gruesome) deaths like? Read all about it at the link below!
