Although we have to close the Tower to give it some TLC on the inside it won't look like this great photo from the 1960's! Reginald's Tower, Waterford's best known building will be closing for scheduled works on Wednesday 4th of September at 5.00 pm. As closing day coincides with the first Wednesday of the month admission will be free, so this is a great opportunity to see Ireland's oldest civic building before we close our doors and give this iconic structure some tender loving care. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause as these temporary works are completed. We look forward to reopening, welcoming visitors and sharing the stories of the Towers rich past. The Viking Triangle is happy to announce that this little wonder has traveled to Mount Congreve, one of the most beautiful and refreshing gardens of all Ireland!! They will welcome it for the next few couple of months.

Reginald's Tower, during the period 1819 to c.1863 was used as a prison. During that time both men and women were confined to the alcove cells, with women being kept on the upper levels. According to newspapers reports the women held "jig, reels and country dances to while away the tedious hours" causing the top floors of the tower to be nicknamed the ballroom. Join us on Wednesday as we recreate the sounds of the past with traditional Irish music.
