Excellent video by Timmy Mallett about the vision in Clones to restore their canal and link it up with the major waterways.
Waterford City has its own equivalent in the St. John's river which could also be restored and linked with the main waterways and canal networks.

A lovely spring morning at St. John’s River, with Fran, Kobi and Ollie out doing a litter run. The walkway is looking great, and it’s lovely to see so many walkers and joggers out enjoying it.

A number of walkers also mentioned the section from Blackrock to the Outer Ring Road that has been fenced off, as highlighted by Brian. It’s a dangerous situation, forcing people out onto the road.

Just wondering,
Waterford City and County Council or any councillors?
The Blackrock to Ballindud stretch of walk/cycleway has been closed to the public for over a month now.
The old fencing has rotted away.
In numerous places the pathway is eroding and is in extremely dangerous condition.
The traffic cones that were placed here are now falling into the marshland.
With the brighter evenings on the way and people out and about more enjoying the nature and beauty of this special place, surely this repair job should be moved up the priority list as walking along the increasingly busy Tramore road is a recipie for disaster.

Lá Fhéile Bríde sona daoibh go léir.

Today we celebrate Imbolc / St Brigid’s Day, which falls roughly halfway between the winter solstice and spring. Around Waterford, the tradition is to make St Brigid’s crosses, while in other parts of the country people also hang out pieces of clothing or ribbons to bring good luck for the year ahead.

The 1st of February is also traditionally considered the first day of spring, even if the Met Office might disagree. Most of the photos and videos were taken yesterday, and at least the water hens were enjoying themselves. The final photo was taken today, it’s amazing what a difference a day can make along the river.

🎅 A surprise helper joined us this morning, proving there’s always room for one more pair of hands… and strangely, no sign of Ollie Stapleton anywhere.

Wishing all our followers a Nollaig shona, síochánta, agus athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir.

If cabin fever hits over Christmas, come out, stretch the legs, and enjoy a walk in the fresh air, it does wonders 🌿🚶‍♂️

This lovely photo was captured by Leamy this morning The path, bathed in golden sunlight and covered with fallen leaves, invites a sense of calm and connection with nature.
The health care people tell us that, walking in places like this, fills our lungs with fresh, clean air and helps clear your mind from daily stress. Why not give it a try. 😊
