Helmets and Mouthguards
All our football and hurling teams are up and running now for 2026. It is mandatory for and
the responsibility of, individual players and the parents of underage players to have a correct
helmet. The GAA has worked with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission
alerting members to dangerous helmets circulating in the market. Mouthguards are for the
use in your mouth not in your socks. The full information is available on TOBAR within the
player education resource hub- https://learning.gaa.ie/mouthguardshurlinghelmets The
GAA has a number of links to articles on this matter, as in the event of a head injury
occurring where the helmet being worn has been tampered with, or does not meet the
standard, the injured party is not covered under the terms of the GAA Player Injury Fund
same as if they are not registered/paid up on Foireann.
Off road parking
Off road parking is available in the field at the country-side of Stradbally GAA club for club
games and training. All members, players and supporters are asked to avail of this facility
and leave the left-hand side of the road free of cars.

to the school in Dungarvan. Please keep the club grounds and premises litter free while
contributing to a good cause.

connections living in Derry and/or neighbouring counties such as Sligo, Cavan, Tyrone,
Donegal, Antrim, Armagh etc, might like to pop along, meet up with the Stradbally

right to represent Waterford at the Feile Peile Division 1final. For supporters who may wish
to travel note GAA clubs on aa route planner/google maps, north of the border often come up
as GAC not GAA. The games will be played on June 27 th but those travelling will make the
journey on June 26 th . Hopefully the weather will be good that weekend. Everyone in
Stradbally GAA/LGFA wishes the team and their families every good wish for the long
journey.
Cumann na mBúnscoil Final
Stradbally GAA wish the best of luck to the younger boys who have a busy few weeks ahead
while preparing for the Feile finals, representing the club in the under 14 championship, they
first line out for their school Our Lady of Mercy, Stradbally, in the Roinn B County hurling
final in Walsh Park on Tuesday June 9 th . against Mount Sion. While the older lads line out at
Under 14 and Under 15, the younger team members on this school team are playing Under
12 and Under 11 for the club in hurling and football. The Stradbally boys qualified for the
final by winning the western final in Dungarvan Club grounds against Tallow. If there are
people with Stradbally connections in the city or working there who could make it to Walsh
Park for the game at 12 noon on June 9 th . it would be great. Mount Sion will have a huge
local support and it would be great to drum up as much support as possible for the boys led
by Tomás Walsh Principal and his staff.

clubs from across Munster.

• No football experience needed
• Fun, fitness and friendships
If you’d like to give it a go and join the team, contact us to be added to the WhatsApp group.
Come along and see what it’s all about!
Gear Swap
The mothers and others are hosting a fundraiser Gear Swap on Sunday June 7 th from 10-
11.30am in the social centre. Bring outgrown Stradbally gear, to include half zips, jerseys,
shorts, hurleys, helmets, boots etc. All donations to help the G4M&Os with their trip to
Mallow. Gear Swaps are common events in many clubs in other counties. Parents of young
girls trying out camogie for the first time may find this a useful source of gear before they go
to the expense of buying new gear and parents with slightly used gear at home may find it a
way of decluttering.

Cumann na mBúnscoil Western finals
Our Lady of Mercy School Stradbally and St James School Stradbally took part in the Western finals of the Cumann na mBúnscoil hurling and camogie games in Dungarvan Club grounds on Wednesday evening. School teams participate in Cumann na mBunscoil against teams from schools of similar size, so Our Lady of Mercy played in the final against Scoil Mhuire Tallow whose Principal is Neil Moore, Co Board chairman and St James’s played Ballycurrane whose Principal is our own Kevin Gough. The boys ran out comfortable winners which was a great effort as some of the younger boys had played division 1 under 12 hurling in Ballygunner earlier in the week. They will now go on to represent the western division in the county final which will probably be held in Waterford.. The girls from St James’s tried hard against a bigger bunch from Ballycurrane but eventually lost out having given it their all.

On Thursday night the minors were again in action in a top of the table clash where they went down narrowly to Passage on a score of 1:25 to 3:21. The under 14 hurlers game against De La Salle did not go ahead as it clashed with the western finals of Cumann na mBunscoil primary school games in Dungarvan in which both Stradbally village primary schools played and has been rescheduled for Monday evening 25th at 19:30pm in De La Salle. Stradbally GAA would like to acknowledge the cooperation of the De la Salle club in refixing this game to facilitate the young players representing their schools and to acknowledge the work being done at school level in the primary schools in the parish. It is full steam ahead getting ready for the under 15 Féile competition where Stradbally under 15s will represent Waterford in division 1 football for the very first time, in Derry at the end of June. Great credit is due to the band of players who won Féile division 1 in very bad conditions in Ring a few weeks ago and to their mentors. Feile will have winning teams in under 15 football from every county and British clubs and some teams from the and USA. The club has prepared with a meeting with the parents, the new gear is ordered and the lads are excited as they prepare for their next adventure while continuing to represent the club at under 14 and under 16 levels in the club leagues and championships here in Waterford. TG4 Munster Final
The Waterford Senior Ladies Football team faced Kerry on Sunday in Kilmallock Co. Limerick in the Munster Final of TG4 ladies championship.
This was the third time the teams faced each other in 2026. Unfortunately with the last kick of the game Kerry won by a point, giving them their third senior cup in a row. Kilmallock has never been a happy hunting ground for us, bringing back memories of our Senior footballers losing a replayed Munster club final there in 2004. Stradbally players included, Rebecca, Cloe, and Laura, The match was available on TG4 youtube GAA free to view.

Camogie
The U8 and U10 girls are really coming along with their camogie skills over the last number of weeks. It is great to see such enthusiasm for the sport.
Huge thanks to Desmond Hurleys for coming along and getting the girls all kitted out with their hurleys and colourful grips.
If you know a girl who would like to try out camogie please get in touch.
