This is a more detailed view of our proposal fror a greenway to follow the route of the old railway to Macmine and then along the River Slaney to Enniscorthy. The Wexford Greenway has the potential to bring tourism to rural Wexford, boosting local businesses and encouraging rural developement. So many villages in rural Wexford have lost their shops, pubs, post offices and sense of community. A greenway can bring life back to these villages, similar to what the successful Waterford Greenway achieved. The Wexford Greenway will also create a safe space for leisure, away from the dangers of road traffic which will encourage people of all ages to part take in a healthy lifestyle and using it to cycle to their local schools and sports clubs. And if the Wexford Greenway is built, it will be part of a Greenway Network from Enniscorthy to Dungarvan, making it even more attractive to visitors within Ireland and abroad.

The Barrow Blueway is coming along nicely. Although not fully opened, the barriers have been removed and people are walking along enjoying the scenery of the Grand Canal. After a long walk to Fisherstown, I went to the Thatched Inn, a lovely thatched pub, for a few pints. Greenways/Blueways are a great way to attract people to rural areas for the scenery and to boost local economy.

Wexford-Curracloe Greenway, whats your thoughts

Having consistently fought for it for years, Cllr Garry Laffan is refusing to allow a potential greenway from Wexford town to Curracloe to fall off the agenda entirely, despite the project having been rejected by An Bord Pleanála some six years ago.

The first section of the South East Greenway is now OPEN! Get your bike out and give it a spin! And think, what if this went all the way to Enniscorthy 🤔

The official opening of Phase 1 of the South East Greenway will take place on Tuesday at 11am at the Greenway car park in Rosbercon and the Greenway will open to the public at 2pm on the same day.

I visited the Ballybrittas Dolmen walk just outside Bree. It just goes to show that a new walk along the edge of farmland is possible if done correctly. We hope to learn from this as there are sections where the Wexford Greenway will have to go along the edge of farmland.

I hope you all had a Fantastic St. Patrick's Day! ☘️🍀☘️🍀
In case you missed it, the Enniscorthy Guardian did a fantastic article on our Greenway. Describing the benefits, progress made so far and the need for Councilors to get involved and express support for a Greenway that would go through the heart of Wexford. Let your local Councillor know that we need this greenway! 🚲🚲

A major campaign is gathering momentum to have a feasibility study done with regard to developing a greenway between Enniscorthy and New Ross.

Wexford CoCo have decided not to extend the New Ross Greenway into Co.Wexford but into Co.Carlow 😢
