PHONE PICKET FOR 3 HOMELESS FAMILIES — TODAY from 9-5!

Wicklow County Council continues to ignore Rachel, Laura, Zeineb, and their families.

We are taking action NOW. Here is how you can help.

💚

9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. Call anytime within those windows. If you can only call once, that is fine. If you can call a few times across the day, even better.

Wicklow County Council General Housing Team: 0404 20120

Alternative email: [email protected]

Read the script in our bio. Say it calmly and clearly. Do not get into a discussion or argument. If they try to ask questions or push back, just repeat the last line of the script and then say goodbye.

If you get voicemail, leave the full message. Please prioritise phone calls, or use the content of this script to make into an email.

🏘️

Send it to friends, family, community groups, anyone who can give a dig out is super appreciated!

We also have a petition link in our bio (check our last post) to share. Let's show our members that Wicklow and beyond won't stand for this! 💚🏘️

Stable, warm, and secure homes for all in Wicklow! 💚🏘️

Our union is building people power so we can fight off evictions and guarantee safe and secure homes for everyone in need of one in Wicklow.

We're doing this by putting power into our communities- we won't stop escalating until Wicklow County Council provide what they rightfully can to our members.

We have a petition to show the council our communities in Wicklow are behind the families.

Check the link in bio or our stories to sign, and keep sharing with your friends, family, and neighbours!

We had a great time at chatting to locals new to CATU, and also unfamiliar with what we do. We also got to chat about our ongoing work in Hazelwood against the infamous attempt to evict at least 39 households in Bridgetown.

The union model we stick by fights for tenants and our communities, against evictions, repairs needed in the home, and for public services. We continue to take these issues to those responsible who have the power to fix them, so landlords or the County Council.

Thank you so much to the organising committee and comhghairdeas for a successful Pride 2026 at ! 💚🏘️ 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The residents of Collins St need your help this week! 💚🏘️

CATU Ireland were out today with residents as we held a lovely community day. Thanks so much for all who could come along!

Unfortunately, SD Group is trying to force these families out, so we will need town-wide help as families with children and retired parents are now at serious risk of homelessness! Shame on SD Group for their disregard to each family's welfare.

Wicklow County Council, this all cannot happen on your watch! The Collins St Four needs to be living safely and securely.

CATU South Wicklow-Wexford, its members in Arklow, and wider community support will be with the residents every step of the way- this is all our fight!

Wexford is steeped in a history in workers' struggle and it is only right we try to fight back on housing to the level the 1911 Lockout had on the right to join a union.

We have a union here, a union for outside the workplace in our communities, so it is only right we remind ourselves that the hard work for better housing and eviction resistance does not come at election time, but in our everyday work. We will be knocking on doors to find the issues faced estate to estate, so keep an eye out! 👏

Nothing better than taking a workers' day off in May Day, only then to get out and put work in for the union! 💚🏘️

In Gorey, we're preparing for our The Rent Strike Film Screening at by getting the word out across the town, as well as in Riverchapel-Courtown.

Were you aware 350,000 Irish people stopped paying rent and engaged in a strike over the course of 1970-73?

The documentary, a hugely underreported part of our history, is not to be missed- we will have a special guest and also have time to chat about campaigns just like what the Rent Strike was able to do, but in North Wexford!

Tickets are still available! Secure your place by checking the link in our bio/check our stories.

On May Day, we remember the workers of the 1911 Wexford Lockout, which was a watershed moment for Ireland's trade union movement. Workers were punished for daring to organise under the ITGWU and exercise their freedom of association. 💜🌟

Faced with scabs, police batons, and the weight of church and state, they held the line because they knew their power lay in collective action.

Today, that same struggle lives on in housing. We have seen it ourselves with Hazelwood in Bridgetown and the Collins St Four in Arklow in recent months. Landlords and speculators rely on isolation and fear in the same way employers still do. In CATU, we organise where we live as well as where we work because the universal public housing, like the ability to work with dignity and on the terms of working people, is something we win together.

Can you afford to live? Housing rights now! 💚🏘️

⚠️🏘️ NO EVICTIONS FOR THE COLLINS ST FOUR! 🟢✊

We are calling on people in Arklow and south Wicklow to spread the word affecting four families.

We have sent a letter as the families are organising with CATU to fight back.

A Kilmuckridge-based entity, SD Group, is responsible for these evictions which are putting families including young children and retired residents under severe stress and risk of homelessness.

▶️ We are asking the public to support this family- get in touch with us for more details. We are preparing for if SD Group do not respond.

▶️ If you have any information you might be able to share, also get in touch with us. Please circulate our demands with friends, family, and across social media.

Ní neart go cur le chéile- there is no strength without unity! 💚✊
