Dear Bus IE-51-22,

You landed and arrived at the hotel at 02:00 - almost straight into meeting your wonderful Israeli friends and the beauty of the Kotel & Shabbat in Jerusalem.

You brought with you the calming nostalgia of common geography, accents, culture (even if I sometimes deny that part of myself) some of the best in-tune questions I’ve had from a BRI group as well as deep, authentic empathy both for eachother’s experiences and for the pain that we’re going through here in Israel. Maybe more importantly though; you came together with your Israeli peers for some crucial
Jewish Joy✨✡️

We lit Chanukah candles almost every night - expelling the darkness with light, a beautiful celebration of Jewish resilience in our Ancient Homeland. We lit Shabbat candles twice, we experienced the beauty of the desert, floated in the Dead Sea, put notes in the Kotel. We explored Jaffa and Tel Aviv and certainly got to know the Eilat promenade.

Huge huge thanks to & whose logistical, emotional, educational and laughing support was invaluable at every moment. I’m so lucky to work with excellent Jews such as yourselves. An enormous thanks to the fab head of programming at a pre-state organisation that showed me this ancient land when I was 16 and now I get to do the same. To the best project in the space of Jewish programming in Israel.

It was my honour, my privilege, my pleasure to show you around the land where our ancestors came from. Thanks to all of you for being you, thanks for your questions and amazing attitudes. Thanks for coming and being with us in our pain; thanks for being vulnerable about yours.

Let no one shake the foundations of your Jewish identities - no matter what part of the journey you’re on.

My Beautiful Berkeley Birthright Babes.

It was an honour to travel around the homeland of our ancient nation with you.

Your questions and curiosity - your thirst to know more pushed me and humbled me simultaneously.

From the springs of Tiberias to a delicious family meal in the forest. Masada to the Dead Sea, The Old Cities of Jerusalem, Tzfat and Jaffa to the modern metropolis Tel Aviv.

Thank you for your open hearts and minds, thank you for allowing me to be a guest on your Jewish Journeys for this short but meaningful chapter.

Dear Bus 465,

My lovely friends from landed here in Israel as one of the first Taglit-Birthright Israel] busses of the Winter season.

It was a privilege to answer your questions and an honour to walk hand in hand with you through the land where our ancestors came from. From muddy hikes in the North to the Dead Sea via the mysterious Mt. Masada.

You blessed, you prayed and sang; we laughed and shared vulnerable moments too.

I thank you for being a wonderful group, for your open hearts and minds. I thank you for allowing me to be a guest for a short moment on your Jewish Journeys. I thank your staff for the educational conversations and the learning moments for me also.

Be active seekers on those Journeys my loves.

And if anyone makes you feel less than, do the accent and I’ll be with you cheering you on.

The Holy work of brings children from all over the developing world in need of heart surgeries to Israel for treatment as well as training doctors from their home countries.

March-September 2022 has been the most exhilarating, exciting and exhausting period of my short life.

I have been honoured with the ultimate privilege of guiding 250 young Jewish adults from all over the world.

My soul soared high as I educated and giggled my way around the ancient homeland of our nation with wonderful souls from Eastern & Western Europe, Canada, The U.K, The U.S and of course Israel.

I am truly blessed to have been able to spend time with you…

Thanks for your open hearts, minds and souls to me and my educational process. Thanks for coming to Israel, thanks for coming on Birthright, thanks for coming on my bus. Thanks for the beautiful memories, thanks for the courage and the vulnerability. Thanks for the laughs and the tears. Thanks for allowing me to be a guest for a short moment on your Jewish Journeys.

I’m and I thank all of the truly amazing staffers that have facilitated these groups alongside me - without them I am unable to do what I do… Hannah, Jonathan, Sydney, Jess, Cole, Hannah, Corey, Dylan, Sam, Victor, Jake, Dahlia, Noa, Shira, Adi, Shaked, Josh, Chelsea, Lauren, Lexi, Jayda & Sarah.

Dear Bus 520,

Dear Bus 520, you landed in Israel as the summer season had started to fade (though you wouldn’t know because of the weather) and were my last group, the perfect group with which to finish a season during which I have jumped from bus to bus, hotel to hotel etc etc.

We hiked in the North and South, you floated at the lowest point on earth. We explored Jerusalem and Tel Aviv together. We participated in ancient rituals whilst talking Jewish identity. We laughed and cried, shared giggles and vulnerable; courageous moments.

You built a community which was joyful, supportive, loving and nurturing and I was privileged to be there with you.

It was a humbling honour to be your Bus Educator.

Thank you for your open minds, hearts and souls, thank you for coming to Israel on Birthright.

Thank you for allowing me to be a guest on your Jewish Journeys - now is the time to be active seekers on those journeys. Let no one make you feel less than Jewish enough, that’s when you do the accent and summon me, I’ll be there fighting in your corner for you.

Dear Bus 784

To my gorgeous new friends from Bus 784,

Like the others, you flew in from a land I once called home, to the land that my soul dreamed of for centuries.

We explored the North of Israel, made a quick stop in the desert to climb a mountain at dawn and float in the Dead Sea. We explored cities old and new, talked of heritage and tradition, lit shabbat candles and made ancient blessings together.

You built a beautiful community, which was a true pleasure to be a part of.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming on birthright and being a part of my dream.

I thank you for the honour and privilege of allowing me to show you our ancestral homeland, for walking hand in hand with me in the garden of my thoughts.

I am and I’ll be here waiting for you with an open heart and an open fridge - just like the others.

Dear Bus 784,

You flew in from the land I used to call home, with the accent that sounds like nostalgia and brought with you the gentle ease that only British groups can give me.

We shared vulnerable and brave moments as well as hilarious ones too.

It was a privilege and a joy to show you the beautiful North, the vast desert, the ancient capital of our nation and to have a taste of the sin city of Tel Aviv.
