In Israel there are only a few hours left of Yom Ha-Zikaron and we are fast approaching the great "pivot" in contemporary Israeli life: from the mourning of Yom Ha-Zikaron to the celebration of Yom Ha-Atzmaut.

Today was a day for introspection, empathy, and gratitude to the many heroes - and their families - whose sacrifices allow us to live in a strong and sovereign Jewish state. Tomorrow will be a day for rejoicing, excitement, and gratitude to Hashem for the miraculous gift of the State of Israel.

Wherever you are currently, whether you already made aliyah or if you still live somewhere in the Diaspora, please take at least a moment to think about one of the kedoshim who died so that we might live and, tomorrow, please consider the great blessing of Israel and express your appreciation - whether through Hallel or other chapters of Tehillim - that we have merited the return of our people to our ancestral homeland.
