ישראלים לא מיוחדים בעניין הזה.
לכל עם יש את המיתוסים שלו. לכל חברה יש את הנקודות שהיא מעדיפה לא לראות.
אבל הכחשה הופכת למסוכנת כשהיא הופכת למדיניות.
במשך שנים סיפרו לנו שאפשר לנהל את הסכסוך בלי לפתור אותו. שהזמן פועל לטובתנו. שהדמוגרפיה לא באמת חשובה. שהעולם יתרגל. שכוח צבאי יכול לפתור בעיות פוליטיות.
המציאות חשבה אחרת.
המציאות תמיד חושבת אחרת.
השאלה היא לא אם אתם ימין או שמאל.
השאלה היא אם אנחנו מוכנים לראות את מה שנמצא מול העיניים שלנו.
חברה שמסרבת להתמודד עם המציאות, בסוף מתנגשת בה.
הבחירה פשוטה:
להסתכל למציאות בעיניים כל עוד יש לנו אפשרויות—
או לחכות עד שהמציאות תבחר בשבילנו

Israelis are not unique in this.
Every nation has its myths. Every society has its blind spots.
But denial becomes dangerous when it turns into policy.
For years we were told that the conflict could be managed indefinitely. That time was on our side. That demography didn't matter. That the world would adapt. That force alone could solve political problems.
Reality disagreed.
Reality always disagrees.
The question is not whether we support the Right or the Left.
The question is whether we are willing to see what is in front of us.
A society that refuses to confront reality eventually collides with it.
The choice is simple:
Face reality while we still have options—
or wait until reality makes the choice for us.

الإسرائيليون ليسوا حالة استثنائية.
لكل شعب رواياته التي يتمسّك بها، ولكل مجتمع أمور يفضّل ألا يراها.
لكن الإنكار يصبح خطيراً عندما يتحوّل إلى سياسة.
لسنوات قيل لنا إن بالإمكان إدارة الصراع من دون حله. إن الوقت يعمل لصالحنا. إن الديموغرافيا ليست مهمة. إن العالم سيتأقلم. وإن القوة العسكرية وحدها قادرة على حل مشاكل سياسية.
لكن الواقع قال شيئاً آخر.
والواقع دائماً يقول شيئاً آخر.
السؤال ليس إن كنتَ يمينياً أم يسارياً.
السؤال هو: هل نحن مستعدون لرؤية ما هو أمام أعيننا؟
المجتمع الذي يرفض مواجهة الواقع، يصطدم به في النهاية.
الخيار بسيط:
إما أن نواجه الواقع بينما ما زالت لدينا خيارات—
أو ننتظر حتى يختار الواقع عنا.

במשך יותר ממאה שנה הציונות השיגה הישגים מדהימים.
היא החייתה שפה, קיבצה גלויות מכל העולם והקימה מדינה יהודית משגשגת.
אבל היה לה גם כתם עיוור.
היא ראתה את הארץ.
היא סירבה לראות את העם שחי בה.
ההתעלמות מהפלסטינים כעם בעל זהות ושאיפות לאומיות לא גרמה להם להיעלם. היא רק הפכה את המחלוקת לסכסוך שנמשך כבר דורות.
היום ישראלים רבים חולמים על השתלבות אמיתית במזרח התיכון.
אבל השתלבות כזו לא תושג באמצעות כוח צבאי, הצלחה כלכלית או הסכמים עם ממשלות בלבד.
היא מחייבת הכרה באמת פשוטה:
בארץ הזאת חיים שני עמים.
כל עוד צד אחד מסרב להכיר בסיפור הלאומי של הצד השני, לא יהיה כאן שלום יציב — לא עם הפלסטינים, לא עם שכנינו, ולא עם עצמנו.
ההכרה קודמת לכל.
כל השאר יבוא אחר כך.

For more than a century, Zionism achieved remarkable things.
It revived a language, gathered exiles from around the world, and created a thriving Jewish state.
But from the beginning, it carried a blind spot.
It saw the land.
It refused to see the people already living in it.
The refusal to recognize Palestinians as a people with legitimate national aspirations did not make those aspirations disappear. It merely turned them into a conflict that has now lasted for generations.
Today, many Israelis dream of normal relations with the Middle East.
But true integration requires more than military strength, economic success, or diplomatic agreements.
It requires recognizing a simple truth:
This land is home to two peoples.
As long as one people's story is denied by the other, there will be no lasting peace—not with the Palestinians, not with our neighbors, and not with ourselves.
Recognition comes first.
Everything else comes after.

على مدى أكثر من قرن، حققت الصهيونية إنجازات كبيرة.
أحيت لغة، وجمعت الشتات اليهودي من أنحاء العالم، وأقامت دولة يهودية قوية ومزدهرة.
لكنها حملت معها نقطة عمياء.
لقد رأت الأرض.
ورفضت أن ترى الشعب الذي كان يعيش عليها.
إن رفض الاعتراف بالفلسطينيين كشعب له هوية وطنية وتطلعات مشروعة لم يجعل تلك التطلعات تختفي، بل حوّلها إلى صراع مستمر منذ أجيال.
اليوم يحلم كثير من الإسرائيليين بعلاقات طبيعية مع الشرق الأوسط.
لكن الاندماج الحقيقي لا يتحقق بالقوة العسكرية أو النجاح الاقتصادي أو الاتفاقيات الدبلوماسية وحدها.
إنه يبدأ بالاعتراف بحقيقة بسيطة:
هذه الأرض هي وطن لشعبين.
وطالما استمر أحد الطرفين في إنكار الرواية الوطنية للطرف الآخر، فلن يكون هناك سلام دائم — لا مع الفلسطينيين، ولا مع شعوب المنطقة، ولا حتى مع أنفسنا.
الاعتراف أولاً.
وكل شيء آخر يأتي بعد ذلك.

For years, we've treated the Israeli-Palestinian conflict like a leaking roof.
Not ideal. Not pleasant. Expensive to fix.
But manageable.
Then came October 7.
Reality reminded us that unresolved conflicts do not remain frozen. They evolve. They accumulate. They erupt.
Today, Israelis argue about the economy, the courts, religion, elections, and everything in between.
Meanwhile, the conflict—the issue that shapes our security, our democracy, our international standing, and our future—has virtually disappeared from the political agenda.
But disappearing from the agenda does not mean disappearing from reality.
Ignoring a problem is not a strategy.
Managing a conflict is not the same as resolving it.
And hoping that time is on our side may be the most dangerous illusion of all.
The conflict will not solve itself.
Reality is managing us.

במשך שנים התייחסנו לסכסוך הישראלי־פלסטיני כמו לגג דולף.
לא נעים. לא אידיאלי. יקר לתקן.
אבל נסבל.
ואז הגיע ה־7 באוקטובר.
המציאות הזכירה לנו שסכסוכים לא פתורים לא קופאים במקום. הם מתפתחים. הם מצטברים. הם מתפוצצים.
היום אנחנו מתווכחים על הכלכלה, בג״ץ, דת ומדינה, בחירות וכל מה שביניהם.
ובינתיים, הסכסוך – הנושא שמעצב את הביטחון שלנו, את הדמוקרטיה שלנו, את מעמדנו בעולם ואת העתיד שלנו – כמעט נעלם מסדר היום הפוליטי.
אבל זה שנושא נעלם מסדר היום לא אומר שהוא נעלם מהמציאות.
להתעלם מבעיה זו לא אסטרטגיה.
לנהל סכסוך זה לא לפתור אותו.
ולחשוב שהזמן פועל לטובתנו עשוי להיות האשליה המסוכנת מכולן.
הסכסוך לא יפתור את עצמו.
המציאות מנהלת אותנו.

لسنوات طويلة تعاملنا مع الصراع الإسرائيلي الفلسطيني كما لو أنه سقف يتسرّب منه الماء.
ليس مثالياً. ليس مريحاً. وإصلاحه مكلف.
لكنه بدا قابلاً للإدارة.
ثم جاء السابع من أكتوبر.
وذكّرنا الواقع بأن الصراعات غير المحلولة لا تبقى مجمّدة. إنها تتطور. وتتراكم. ثم تنفجر.
اليوم ينشغل الإسرائيليون بالاقتصاد، والمحكمة العليا، والدين والدولة، والانتخابات، وكل ما بين ذلك.
وفي الوقت نفسه، اختفى الصراع – القضية التي تشكل أمننا وديمقراطيتنا ومكانتنا الدولية ومستقبلنا – تقريباً من الأجندة السياسية.
لكن اختفاء قضية من الأجندة لا يعني اختفاءها من الواقع.
تجاهل المشكلة ليس استراتيجية.
وإدارة الصراع ليست حلاً له.
والاعتقاد بأن الزمن يعمل لصالحنا قد يكون أخطر الأوهام جميعاً.
الصراع لن يحل نفسه.
الواقع هو الذي يديرنا.

ישראל הולכת לעוד מערכת בחירות שבה כולם יריבו על הכול — חוץ מהנושא שבאמת קובע את העתיד שלנו.
לא איראן.
לא בג״ץ.
לא “משילות”.
הסכסוך.
כבר שנים שהפוליטיקה הישראלית מתנהלת כאילו אפשר פשוט להוריד את הסכסוך הישראלי־פלסטיני מסדר היום.
ואז הגיע ה־7 באוקטובר — תזכורת כואבת לכך שבעיות שמתעלמים מהן לא נעלמות. הן רק גדלות.
ועדיין, תקשיבו טוב: כמעט אף אחד לא מנהל דיון אמיתי על העתיד הפוליטי ארוך הטווח בין הירדן לים.
איך ייראו החיים כאן בעוד 20 או 30 שנה?
מי שולט במי?
ומה בכלל הפתרון?
שתיקה.
מדינה שלא מסוגלת לדבר על הבעיה המרכזית שלה לא מנהלת את המציאות.
המציאות מנהלת אותה

Israel has held election after election while carefully avoiding the single issue that determines its future.
Not Iran.
Not the Supreme Court.
Not “governability.”
The conflict.
For years, Israeli politics has operated on a strange assumption: that the Israeli–Palestinian conflict can simply be removed from the national agenda.
Then came October 7 — reality’s reminder that ignored problems do not disappear. They accumulate.
And yet, listen carefully: almost nobody is seriously debating the long-term political future between the river and the sea.
A country unable to discuss its central problem is not managing reality.
Reality is managing it.

تتجه إسرائيل إلى انتخابات أخرى سيتجادل فيها الجميع بحرارة حول كل شيء — ما عدا القضية التي تحدد مستقبل الدولة.
ليس إيران.
ليس المحكمة العليا.
وليس “الحوكمة”.
بل الصراع.
لسنوات طويلة عملت السياسة الإسرائيلية وفق افتراض غريب: أنه يمكن ببساطة إزالة الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني من جدول الأعمال الوطني.
ثم جاء السابع من أكتوبر — تذكير من الواقع بأن المشاكل التي يتم تجاهلها لا تختفي. بل تتراكم.
ومع ذلك، استمعوا جيداً: لا يكاد أحد يجري نقاشاً جدياً حول المستقبل السياسي طويل المدى بين النهر والبحر.
الدولة التي لا تستطيع مناقشة مشكلتها المركزية لا تدير الواقع.
بل الواقع هو الذي يديرها.
