The Mir Yeshiva's journey during World War II is one of the most remarkable stories of Jewish survival.

Fleeing across continents—from Eastern Europe to Shanghai—its students preserved not only their lives but also a centuries-old tradition of Jewish learning. Today, books from that journey are preserved at the National Library of Israel.

Watch their incredible story.

Hundreds of Jewish leaders, community members, and politicians came together on Sunday morning to participate in the Israel Day Parade in New York City. For many years, the parade has been one of the largest public displays of solidarity with Israel outside the country.

We were especially proud to see Deborah Menton Peretz, a teacher from the NLI Educators Community, marching alongside her students, bringing their connection to Israel and Jewish heritage into the this celebration.

At a time of ongoing challenges, the parade reminds us of unity and the shared values that connect communities across continents.

It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to host David Bryfman, CEO of The Jewish Education Project, at the National Library of Israel today!

We loved showing him around our magnificent new building, sharing the abundance of programs and resources we offer, and seeing firsthand how visitors experience this space as a hub of inspiration, wisdom, connection, and creativity.

We are also incredibly excited to add his book, "Heroism and Hope," to our vast collections—joining the cultural treasures that tell the diverse story of Israeli society and the Jewish people around the world.

This year, we received 466 posters from 17 countries, each created with incredible effort, creativity, and thoughtfulness. Because we received nearly twice as many submissions as last year, our judges had a particularly difficult time selecting the winners. Each poster was carefully evaluated according to several criteria, including message, design, creativity, use of primary sources, and the artist’s statement. It was not an easy decision.

We want to thank again both educators and students for their participation, creativity, and hard work!💙💙

Kibbutzim in Israel transformed Shavuot into a celebration of agriculture, community, and connection to the land. Fields were decorated, tractors paraded through the kibbutz, and baskets filled with the season’s first fruits were proudly presented.

Children dressed in white with flower crowns, babies born during the year were introduced to the community, and farmers celebrated the wheat harvest, dairy production, and hard work of the land.

These unique Israeli traditions blended ancient Jewish customs with modern pioneering life, creating some of the most iconic images of Shavuot in Israel’s cultural history.

What is your favorite Shavuot tradition? 🌾

Wishing you a joyful holiday!

We are excited to share that the Consulate General of Israel in Houston, Texas, organized an exhibit showcasing Yom Ha’atzmaut posters created by students world-wide as part of the Curate & Create Poster Competition 2026 🇮🇱🎨

Two branches of the Israeli Consulate — in Houston and San Francisco — reached out to us saying they wanted to feature the students’ artwork in their Independence Day celebrations.

It is incredibly moving to see these creative posters travel across the world and become part of community celebrations.💙

Special thanks to the Consulate General of Israel in Houston for their partnership and for their openness to collaborating on projects with the National Library of Israel.

A huge thank you to all the students, educators, and communities who participated in this year’s competition. Your creativity continues to inspire people around the world 🌍💙

Did you know that every Israeli Eurovision song becomes part of the archive of the National Library of Israel?

One of the Library’s missions is to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of Am Israel in Israel and around the world.

The Eurovision songs from the past two years — “The New Day Will Rise” by Yuval Raphael and “Hurricane” by Eden Golan — have already been added to the Library’s archives. Noam Bettan is next!

Mazal tov to incredible Noam Bettan on the second place at Eurovision 2026!
