70 Days of Miluim: From the Heart of Tulkarm to the Front Door at Home 🇮🇱
A personal reflection from Yossi Levi, CEO of Nahal Haredi / Netzah Yehuda, upon concluding his reserve duty as Commander of Gdud 21:
70 challenging and successful days of Miluim in the heart of the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps have officially come to an end. And no, it wasn't easy.
When Gdud 21—our dedicated Netzah Yehuda reserve battalion—was called up for Mivtza Sha'agat Ha'ari (Operation Lion’s Roar), our fighters mobilized instantly, hitting a rare recruitment rate of over 90%. From there, we pushed through full battalion training and deployed straight to the Ephraim Brigade sector. I feel an immense, daily privilege to command this battalion—a unit blessed with phenomenal Haredi fighters, fueled by sheer fire, faith, and motivation.
Like many reserve units right now, our deployment was extended several times. But through the uncertainty, I witnessed the unbreakable determination of our soldiers. Even more so, I saw the incredible spirit of their families—the wives and children who held the home front together with profound resilience.
The transition from combat back to the living room and the community is never simple. As we prepared to head home, I shared a few words with my soldiers—part jest, part earnest advice—on how to navigate this delicate shift:
"My brothers, fighters, and commanders, remember:
At home, you don't give orders.
A falling cabinet is not a burst of gunfire.
In Ramat Gan, it’s less acceptable to drive in the opposite lane or check your neighbor's trunk.
The Tulkarm Municipality doesn't pick up your trash at home.
Your wife is not Ha'Tabach shel Avi (Avi the Cook).
Your boss at work is not called Kodkod (Commander), and your iPhone is no longer a two-way radio.
So brother, start cooking, cleaning, latet katef (pitch in and lend a shoulder), be a partner, and above all—reconnect. To yourself, to your family, to your work, to your Torah, and to life."
Gdud 21 stood up to the task. We neutralized terrorists, uncovered explosive labs, and dismantled terror infrastructure.
As the CEO of Nahal Haredi and as their commander in the field, I have never been more proud of what our soldiers achieve, both in uniform and out of it.
