Shaked Trabelsi is a youth volunteer with Magen David Adom’s Netivot cluster and a high school junior.

He volunteers with tireless dedication across many meaningful areas:

-First Responder: Providing first aid on ambulances.
-Instructor: Training youth volunteers and the general public.
-Scheduler: Managing shifts and scheduling for both adult and youth volunteers.
-Youth Leader: Serving as a counselor in Bnei Akiva.
-Community Representative: Member of the Youth Council for the Sdot Negev Regional Council.

We are proud to congratulate Shaked on winning the Minister of Education’s Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award, named in memory of Elad Riven.

Shaked is the definition of a values-driven, caring leader who works non-stop for his community. Through his extensive work with MDA, the Youth Council, Bnei Akiva, and meaningful social initiatives for local teens, he inspires everyone around him, leading with responsibility, generosity, and a massive heart.

This honorable achievement brings immense pride to his family, the entire community, and to us.

Way to go, Shaked! You make MDA incredibly proud. 💛

It was just another regular day for Shmuel, a 63-year-old man from Jerusalem. He left his home, and while walking down the street, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed.

Bystanders didn’t hesitate; they immediately dialed Magen David Adom’s 101 National Emergency Dispatch Center, and within a few minutes, rapid response first responders and the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) team fought for his life. They performed advanced resuscitation efforts, and after extensive medical care and several electric shocks, his heart began to beat again!

This week, after recovering and getting back on his feet, Shmuel arrived for a deeply emotional meeting to say thank you to the team that saved his life:

“Thank you for fighting for my life so that I would survive. I have no words to thank you.”

We are so moved with you, Shmuel! We wish you nothing but good health, and send a massive thank you to our incredible teams who stand guard every single day, at any hour. 💛

Eli Feuer, a senior EMT, ambulance driving instructor, MDA employee and part of our family for 39 years, dedicated his life to emergency medicine, to saving lives, and to continuous giving.

Mordechai, Eli’s eldest son, followed in his footsteps, but his story began long before. When he was about 9 years old, Mordechai arrived with his father for a regional toast ahead of the Passover holiday. Present at the event was MDA Director-General Eli Bin; he turned to them and asked to take the boy to him for a moment, sat him down next to him, raised a toast, and in an unforgettable moment said to him: “You will be a paramedic in MDA when you grow up.”
Mordechai began his path in MDA as early as age 16 as a youth volunteer, later chose the paramedic track through the Modi’in Hesder Yeshiva, and about two years ago was certified, but the official ceremony took place only recently.

His father tells with pride that already in his childhood he would join him in the on-call ambulance on the way to school; he believes that the exposure to this world from a young age is what accompanied him throughout the years and ultimately led him to choose the path and become a paramedic.

This story is a reminder of the power of values and personal example, and of the way in which a mission can pass from generation to generation.

We are proud of both of you for the path, the giving, and the legacy of saving lives.

Shabbat Shalom! 💛

Moments before boarding a flight to Greece, among the shops and passengers in the duty-free at Ben Gurion Airport, a 74-year-old man collapsed and lost consciousness after suffering cardiac arrest.

At those moments, two El Al employees, MDA volunteer first responders Ephraim Friedman and Yosef Sachs who were nearby, received the call on the first responders application.
The two arrived quickly at the scene and began resuscitation operations; within minutes, they gave him two electric shocks using a defibrillator and his heart returned to beating.

Later he regained consciousness, opened his eyes, and did not understand what was happening around him. Moments before he was on his way to a flight and now he found himself surrounded by teams trying to understand together with him what happened. His medical condition was clarified to him, and he was evacuated to Sheba Hospital while in stable condition.
They share: “It is an emotional event to be in the right place at the right time ... We wish him a full recovery and hope that soon he will complete his trip to Greece.”

Thank you to Ephraim Friedman and Yosef Sachs for the determination, the speed, and the big heart in the most critical moments 💛

During the events of October 7th, Noam Hanuka from Kibbutz Mefalsim was seriously injured in a terrorist ambush, while his wife Noa was in her ninth month of pregnancy. Noa was evacuated for a life-saving emergency birth, and found herself in the maternity bed while her husband fought for his life in the room next door.

Out of the immense pressure and trauma, Noa was unable to breastfeed their eldest son, Roei. At that moment, the joint Magen David Adom and Ministry of Health National Human Milk Bank entered the picture, and Dr. Sharron Bransburg-Zabari enveloped the family and provided them with safe and supplied human milk directly to their home.

Today, almost three years later, Noam and Noa are still in the midst of a long and inspiring rehabilitation process, but they did not stop there, and recently brought their second son, Oz, into the world. This time too, the MDA Milk Bank mobilized to complete what was missing and to support Noa in the journey of healing and return to normalcy.

The transfer of milk to Roei and Oz was completed successfully, and they are part of about 60 babies who have received since the outbreak of the war about 2,500 liters of human milk thanks to our amazing donors, who grant life and hope in the most difficult moments.

Just days before Shavuot, MDA volunteer Uriel David Shlomi found himself moving once again between the many roles that shape his life: Senior EMT, ambulance driver, rabbi, father, community leader, and responder.

But on May 19, his most meaningful call did not come through an ambulance radio. It came from home.

While leading evening prayers at synagogue, Uriel had just begun the silent Amida prayer when his phone rang. “At that very moment, as I was opening my heart in prayer, the delivery began.”

Within minutes, he rushed home carrying an MDA delivery kit, shifting instantly between husband, father, and medical responder. After caring for his wife and newborn daughter, he transported his own family to the hospital in his ambulance.

For Uriel, however, the story was never only about a surprise delivery.
As a rabbi and community leader who recently helped welcome hundreds of new immigrant families beginning new chapters in Israel, he sees a deeper lesson in moments like these.

Shavuot, he believes, is not only about remembering what was given generations ago. It is about carrying those values forward through service, responsibility, and caring for others.

Kol Yisrael arevim zeh la’zeh — We are all responsible for one another.

“We don’t live only for ourselves,” he reflected. “Our mission is to continue life.”

Because life is not measured only by the moments we save. It is also measured by the lives we build.

Happy Shavuot! 💛🌾

Omri Yaron and Chava Superfin, National Service paramedics in MDA and graduates of the National Service Paramedic Course (KAPAM), arrived over the weekend at Kibbutz Nachsholim to celebrate Omri’s grandmother’s birthday. But for our teams, plans can always change in a single second.

In the middle of dinner, a first-responder alert was received on the MDA app: Lital Gross Hindi, a resident of the kibbutz, went into labor just a short walking distance from them. Omri and Chava dropped everything, ran to the scene, and within a few short minutes, prepared and successfully delivered a sweet and healthy baby boy.

After the happy father, Dolev, cut the umbilical cord and the smiling family was evacuated by an intensive care mobile unit to the hospital, Omri and Chava returned to the table to continue the celebrations with Grandma.

This week they closed a circle and came to visit the family and little baby Alon at their home.

The National Service Paramedic Course (KAPAM) trains young men and women to take a real part in MDA’s emergency medicine, not only in stations and ambulances, but also in the most significant moments in life, just like this very moment.

Proud of our teams who are there for you at any time, anywhere, and under any circumstances! 💛

In honor of International Nurses Day, we wanted to say thank you to the people who simply don’t know how to stop giving. The ones who finish a shift at the hospital and, moments later, are already putting on their MDA uniforms.

Meet a few of our champions (out of a massive team!):
✨ Idit Shor – An ER nurse who has been breathing MDA since the age of 15.
✨ Lihi Gabrielov – A nurse who also volunteers for MDA’s mental health project.
✨ Maayan Levy – A nurse in the Golani Brigade reconnaissance unit and a proud medic in Katzrin.
✨ Oren Keinar – A winning combination of a Paramedic and a Registered Nurse with incredible clinical knowledge.

And this family is much larger:
From hundreds of our “Life Guardians” who are nurses jumping to any nearby emergency via the app, to the midwives who ensure every woman in labor receives the most professional care possible, even outside the delivery room.

Idit, Lihi, Maayan, Oren, and all of our nurses, thank you for your professionalism, for the peace of mind you bring with you, and for your compassion. ❤️

Know a nurse from our team? This is the time to show them some love in the comments! 👇
