Protecting Livestock, Securing Livelihoods!

The Livestock Insurance Scheme is being implemented across Tripura in full swing under the Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura.

With the active involvement and coordinated efforts of officers and officials at all levels of the Department, the scheme is reaching livestock farmers across the State—strengthening livestock protection, reducing economic risks and supporting sustainable livelihoods.

Together, we are building a safer and more resilient livestock sector in Tripura.

Strengthening Livelihoods through Livestock Insurance, Entrepreneurship & Fodder under National Livestock Mission (NLM)

District-level training programmes are being conducted across Tripura to strengthen the capacity of livestock farmers and entrepreneurs on livestock insurance, livestock-based entrepreneurship development, and scientific fodder cultivation under NLM.

The initiative aims to promote scientific livestock practices, reduce risks, enhance fodder availability, and create sustainable livelihood and entrepreneurship opportunities for livestock farmers across the State.

Strengthening Poultry Development Across Tripura

The Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura, continues to strengthen rural poultry farming through the supply of Day-Old Chicks (DOCs) and ducklings to different Block Level Brooder Houses (BLBHs) across the State.

DOCs and ducklings were supplied to BLBHs across South Tripura, West Tripura, Gomati, Dhalai and Unakoti Districts, supporting farmers and strengthening grassroots poultry development.

These initiatives promote scientific poultry farming, enhance rural livelihoods and boost poultry production across the State.

Veterinary & Animal Welfare Activities in Gomati District

On 29 August 2026, an Insurance-cum-Vaccination Camp was organized under the jurisdiction of the Dy. Director, ARDD, Gomati District. Livestock insurance was provided to goats, pigs and cattle, along with PPR vaccination for goats and combined FMD & BQ+HS vaccination for cattle under DVH, Udaipur.

At the ABC Centre, District Veterinary Hospital, Udaipur, castration and spaying were successfully performed under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme.

Committed to livestock health, animal welfare and accessible veterinary services.

On 25 August,2026, Shri Sudhangshu Das Hon’ble Minister of Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura visited the District Veterinary Hospital, Belonia.

During his visit, the Hon’ble Minister reviewed the hospital’s facilities, activities and ongoing initiatives and attended an Animal Welfare Camp.

His encouragement has further inspired the team to work with greater dedication towards animal welfare and quality veterinary services.

On 25 August,2026, Shri Sudhangshu Das, Hon'ble Minister of ARDD, Fisheries & SC Welfare, Govt. of Tripura, chaired a district-level review meeting at the Bilonia Circuit House, South Tripura, with officials of the Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura, Fisheries and Scheduled Castes Welfare Department, along with elected representatives.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of various schemes for 2026–27, with special focus on timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries and expediting ongoing departmental programmes.

ARDD, Government of Tripura remains committed to effective implementation of schemes and ensuring that government benefits reach the intended beneficiaries at the grassroots level.

On 25 August, the State Veterinary Hospital of Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura organised an Animal Feed Distribution Programme and Veterinary Health Camp in flood-affected areas of Baldakhal Gram Panchayat and various AMC wards, in the presence of the Shri Biswajit Shil, Hon’ble Sabhadhipati, West Tripura Zilla Parishad.

The initiative benefited 160 farmers, with feed distributed for 500+ animals, along with essential veterinary care for affected livestock.

ARDD, Government of Tripura remains committed to supporting farmers and protecting livestock during times of crisis.

Training Programme for Livestock and Fodder Development Beneficiaries

A one-day training programme was organized on 21.08.2026 by the Block Veterinary Hospital, Boxanagar for beneficiaries selected under the NEC Goatery, Perennial Fodder, Azolla Cultivation and Tapioca Cultivation schemes in Boxanagar RD Block.

The programme was inaugurated by Tafajjal Hossain, Hon'ble MLA, 20-Boxanagar Assembly Constituency, in the presence of a Member of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad and other PRI members.

The training programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the selected beneficiaries for the effective implementation of the respective schemes and to promote scientific livestock rearing and fodder cultivation practices.

Empowering Rural Livelihoods through Mukhyamantri Prani Sampad Bikash Yojana!

The Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura, is continuing the distribution of pigs, goats, ducks and poultry birds to beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Prani Sampad Bikash Yojana across Matabari, Amarpur, Karbook, Ompi and Killa RD Blocks, as well as Udaipur Municipal Council in Gomati District.

So far, 80 pigs under 80 units, 80 goats under 80 units, 7,820 poultry chicks under 391 units, and 1,700 ducklings under 85 units have been distributed to beneficiaries.

The programme is helping beneficiaries strengthen their livelihoods through livestock and poultry rearing.

State-Level Seminar-cum-Workshop on Scientific and Innovative Pig Farming conducted by Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Tripura on 20.08.2026

The technical session of the State-Level Seminar-cum-Workshop on Scientific and Innovative Pig Farming featured expert deliberations on pig health management, disease prevention, scientific breeding and feeding, fodder and farm management, entrepreneurship opportunities and effective marketing.

Experts Dr. Pranab Jyoti Das, Principal Scientist Indian Council of Agricultural Research-NRCP, Assam and Dr. Rajendra Thomas, Principal Scientists, ICAR-NRC on Pig, Guwahati, and Dr. Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist, ICAR-NEH, Meghalaya, shared valuable insights and innovative technologies with progressive pig farmers and other stakeholders.

The session promoted knowledge-sharing and the adoption of scientific practices towards making pig farming in Tripura more productive, profitable and sustainable.
