West Tripura District headquarter is located in Agartala which is also the capital of the State of Tripura. West Tripura District has three Sub-Divisions namely Sadar, Mohanpur & Jirania and nine number of RD Blocks. It is having total 172 numbers of Gram Panchayats.It is the most populous district of Tripura and thereby is having largest number of Assembly Constituencies i.e. 14 (fourteen) number

of Assembly Constituencies out of total 60 ACs. It is most urbanized district of State of Tripura with urban population of about 54%. It is having 4 number of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) out of which the only Municipal Corporation in the state i.e. Agartala Municipal Corporation is under West Tripura District.West Tripura District is having all the essential infrastructure such as well developed Airport, Railway Station, urban transportation and rural transportation facilities, all the Central Government & State Government Head Offices, State Head offices of the all the Banks, Medical colleges, engineering Colleges and other educational institutions including Central University and various other amenities and institutions. Rural part of West Tripura District is mainly dependent on agriculture and allied activities .Paddy cultivation is the main agricultural activity. Also there are nineteen numbers of Tea Estates which makes West Tripura District as largest producer of tea in the state of Tripura. There are also two number of industrial estates in which industries like steel plant, plastic, rubber based production etc exist.

đŸ“ĸ Urgent Meeting on Village Committee Elections 2026

An urgent meeting in connection with the ensuing General Election to the Village Committee Constituencies–2026 was held today, 5 September 2026 at 5:00 PM, at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura District, Agartala.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the State Election Commissioner, Tripura, with the participation of concerned Police Officers, ROs, AROs and Officers-in-Charge of the respective Police Stations. Various election-related matters and necessary arrangements were discussed.

A training session for Deputy Commissioners (DCs) on the processing and disposal of citizenship applications under Section 6B of the Citizenship Act, 1955 was conducted today, 03 September 2026, from 10:00 A.M. through VC mode.

The session focused on strengthening the understanding of the prescribed procedures and ensuring the effective and timely processing and disposal of citizenship applications under the relevant provisions of the Act.

The District Administration, West Tripura, organised a District-Level Workshop on Drug Prevention & Rehabilitation under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan today, 03 September 2026, from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM at Hall No. 2, Pragna Bhavan, Agartala.

The workshop was chaired by District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, and was graced by the presence of the respected Behenji from Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Organisation, along with the ADM, West Tripura; DSP, West; DISE, West, and representatives from various clubs and NGOs across West Tripura District.

# # # 🌱 Empowering Rural Women Through Entrepreneurship | West Tripura

**Rupali Dey**, a member of **Joy Loknath SHG** under **Dasabhuja CLF, Mohanpur BMMU, West Tripura District**, has emerged as a successful rural entrepreneur through her determination, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.

With financial support of **₹50,000**, Rupali Dey started a **Mushroom Spawn Production Unit** and has successfully expanded her enterprise. Today, her unit produces approximately **280 kg of mushroom spawn per day**, generating a daily turnover of around **₹25,200** and a profit of approximately **₹11,200**.

The mushroom spawn is packed in **200-gram packets**, with a production cost of around **₹10 per packet** and a profit of approximately **₹8 per packet**. Her growing enterprise has also created **employment opportunities for local labourers**, contributing to livelihood generation in the community.

Looking ahead, Rupali Dey plans to further expand her enterprise by establishing a **Button Mushroom Production Unit**.

Her inspiring journey demonstrates how **timely financial support, skills, determination and access to livelihood opportunities can empower rural women to build sustainable enterprises, create employment and achieve financial independence.**

Block Level SMC Meeting – Bamutia RD Block

The Block Level School Management Committee (SMC) Meeting of Bamutia RD Block was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, in the presence of BDO Bamutia, Chairman and Vice Chairman Panchayat Samiti, PTZP Members, SMC members, Pradhans & Upa-Pradhans, Inspector of Schools, DEO West and officials of various line departments.

All JB, SB, HS and Vidyajyoti Schools under the block were reviewed in detail, with discussions on achievements, challenges and complaints. Necessary directions were issued for improving the overall education scenario.

Focus was given on teacher rationalisation as per student strength, hygiene and sanitation, student health and improvement of learning outcomes.

This was the 2nd Block Level SMC review in the district, after Mohanpur RD Block. Similar reviews will be conducted across other blocks in the coming days.
