LG Refuses Rack Replacement Despite Platinum AMC

Ms. Supreeti Negi approached CERC after the racks of her LG dishwasher developed significant rusting and damage, despite the appliance being covered under LG’s Platinum Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC).

Despite multiple follow-ups, escalations, and an inspection by an LG technician, the company refused to replace the rusted racks, leaving the consumer’s concern unresolved.

CERC subsequently took up the matter with LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. and sought replacement of the damaged racks.

The Platinum AMC covers the parts—so why should the consumer bear the cost of replacement?

The matter is currently pending. We hope LGIndia looks into the consumer’s concern and provides a satisfactory resolution at the earliest.

As part of an ongoing statewide anti-adulteration drive, authorities seized and subsequently destroyed 7,150 litres of suspected adulterated milk, alongside 120 kg of vegetable ghee and 15 kg of milk powder.

Illicit trade, including smuggling and counterfeiting, continues to pose a significant threat to economies and consumer well-being. Despite stringent regulatory frameworks and enforcement efforts, these illegal activities persist, undermining fair trade, endangering consumer safety, and eroding economic stability. FICCI CASCADE is organizing a Seminar on “Breaking the Chain of Illicit Trade: Building a Secure and Resilient Economy” on Tuesday, 25th August 2026.

Anindita Mehta, CEO-CERC has been invited to participate as a distinguished panellist in the Panel Discussion on “Policies to Prevent Counterfeiting and Smuggling,” and will contribute to identifying practical measures to combat illicit trade and strengthen consumer trust.

Learning to identify misleading advertisements is an important step towards becoming an informed consumer.

As part of the orientation programme at Som Lalit Institute of Management Studies, CERC conducted an awareness session on combating misleading advertisements for around 160 new students.

The session focused on helping students identify misleading claims and make informed consumer choices. Students actively participated by asking interesting questions and identifying claims that were not true.
