But when I visited Bengaluru to inaugurate their new home, I discovered something even more incredible...
Shruti had spent every rupee raised exactly where it was needed and then took on β‚Ή15 lakh of personal debt to build a 100% free animal hospital, so injured stray animals could receive treatment without anyone worrying about unaffordable medical bills.

Every day, Orpita Ghosh hears this silent plea in the eyes of the old, injured, and abandoned dogs she has cared for over the last 35 years.

These dogs are too weak to run. Too old to fight. Too helpless to survive. Many are deliberately run over, poisoned, beaten, or attacked with acid and boiling water. The streets that should have been their home have become a place where they are left to die.

Orpita Ji has already lost 7 rescued dogs to this cruelty. She has been assaulted, threatened, and humiliated simply for protecting them. Yet every morning, despite her age, her bedridden husband, her mother’s failing health, and having exhausted all her savings, she still walks the same roads to feed 300+ hungry dogs, because she knows they are waiting for her.

Today, she isn’t asking for sympathy.

She is asking for a safe home.

A shelter where 125+ old, paralysed, and critically injured dogs can finally live without fear of speeding vehicles, abuse, hunger, or another painful night on the streets.
