GURUDWARA SHRI GURU MAHAL SAHIB holds a special place in Sikh history and spirituality. Located near Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, this sacred place was once the residence of SHRI GURU RAMDAS JI and his family. From here, the foundation of Ramdaspur, now known as Amritsar, was laid and the excavation of the holy Amrit Sarovar began.
This blessed place witnessed many important moments in Sikh history — SHRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI was married and later blessed with Guruship here, while SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI was also married at this historic site. It is also the birthplace of BABA ATAL RAI JI and SHRI GURU TEG BAHADUR JI. A place filled with divine history, blessings, and the legacy of the Sikh Gurus. 🙏✨

As June 9 approaches, we humbly remember the Shaheedi of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his young son Ajai Singh — a story of unmatched courage, sacrifice, and faith.
In the face of unimaginable torture, they stood fearless, choosing Sikhi and truth over their own lives.
When young Ajai Singh was asked if he feared death, his fearless spirit reflected the legacy of the Chhote Sahibzaade — showing that even a child of the Khalsa carries the strength of lions.
In his final moments, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur embraced his son and kissed his dastar — a moment of love, strength, and eternal pride.
They were tested beyond limits, yet never wavered.
They were tortured, yet never broke.
They lived and died as true Khalsa, standing against tyranny with unshakable faith.
This June 9, let us not only remember their pain, but also the power of their spirit — a legacy that continues to inspire generations 🙏🩸

Did you know? The word “Bunga” means residence, but it became iconic in Sikh history around Sri Darbar Sahib 🛕✨
Built during the Misl era, Bungas were established by Sikh Sardars and Misldars so they could stay near the sacred shrine during darshans. Every major Misl — Sukerchakia, Ramgarhia, Shaheedan, Ahluwalia, and others — had its own Bunga, along with contributions from smaller states and spiritual figures.
Far more than dwellings, they were vibrant centres of Gurmat learning, Sikh philosophy, kirtan, and spiritual training — often compared to early Taksals.
🏛️ The earliest known form is the Akal Bunga, now revered as Akal Takht Sahib.
Though many Bungas were later removed during development of the parikrama, their legacy still stands strong — as symbols of devotion, sovereignty, and Sikh learning. 🧡
