ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ਼ਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਵਿਰੁਧ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੜ੍ਹਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਦਾਦ ਮੁਗਲ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਟ ਕੇ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਲੂਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।

In Sikh history, this week presents the unique example of bravery and sacrifices by the Sikhs in standing against tyranny of the cruel Mughal Empire. The barbaric army of one million attacked Guru Gobind Singh ji and his small number of Sikhs. In spite of their numerical strength, the Mughal soldiers were unable in their motive to kill or capture the Guru and finish the Sikhs. Guru ji sacrificed his whole family for the sake of righteousness, and taught his Sikhs to stand against injustice and discrimination and protect the rights of the weak or needy at any cost.
On this fateful night of 20 December, the Anandpur Sahib fort was evacuated. The mid-winter night was dark and bitterly cold, and there was a heavy rain. The unfavorable weather and the flooded River Sirsa in full spate, did make the task of evacuation formidable.

Your neglect is like the suffering of animals at the hands of butchers. Our Beloved Lord's straw bed is more pleasing to us than living in costly furnace-like mansions."
