Dear Residents of Village Panzath,

Team SRCK Kashmir warmly invites you and your family to participate in the Cleaning Drive-cum-Facilitation Program being organized to celebrate the historic achievement of Village Panzath, which has become the first village in Kashmir, after Sadiwara, to clean all its natural springs through a collective community effort.

The programme will also focus on the future of spring conservation and the importance of protecting our natural water sources for generations to come.

On this occasion, the local volunteers and sanitation workers who played a leading role in the successful cleaning of 500 springs will be felicitated for their outstanding contribution.

ALARMING SITUATION 😲😢

There has been a massive loss of fish species in one of the largest springs in the Panzath area of Qazigund in Anantnag district. A large number of fish have died in the spring over the past month.

The Fisheries Department and SKUAST have collected samples for analysis, but the fish deaths continue. Almost the entire population of Kashir fish (Schizothorax species) has perished in the spring.

Accountability needs to be fixed on the Fisheries Department, which earns crores of rupees from the spring, Jal Shakti Department, which has damaged the spring by laying pipes, and other concerned departments responsible for its protection and conservation.
