A massive protest was held at the Tenkasi District Collectorate demanding justice for Dalit residents of Nettur village in Alangulam taluk who were allegedly subjected to a brutal caste-based attack.

Organized by the Untouchability Eradication Front with support from various organizations, the protest called for action against the attackers, removal of an allegedly illegal pig shed in Nettur, and the immediate restoration of a police outpost in the village.

As officials initially declined to hold talks, protesters continued their agitation outside the Collectorate for nearly one and a half hours. The stalemate ended after District Revenue Officer Jayachandran and Sub-Collector Vaishnavi met the protesters and heard their concerns.

A delegation later met District Collector Ranjit Singh, who assumed office on Wednesday, and submitted their demands. Protest leaders said the meeting was secured through sustained public pressure and expressed hope that the administration would act on the issues raised.

A CPI(M) delegation met Noida workers who were arrested during the recent workers’ movement and released on bail after spending nearly a month in jail. The workers, who have also been dismissed from their jobs, alleged custodial assault, fabricated evidence, and false cases aimed at crushing their struggle. The delegation assured them of legal and political support.

The delegation, comprising CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby, Polit Bureau members
Tapan Sen and R. Arun Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP V. Sivadasan, and other leaders, also met workers who participated in last month’s strikes and those who later joined the trade union movement.

Workers reported anti-union practices, including victimization and dismissal of those taking leadership roles. The delegation condemned the Uttar Pradesh government for police repression and the filing of false cases against workers, and criticized the administration for denying permission to meet workers who remain in jail awaiting bail.

Nearly 10,000 scheme workers from Maharashtra gathered at Mumbai's Azad Maidan to press their demands. The protest, which began yesterday, will continue for the next two days.

The mobilization is being seen as the beginning of a broader wave of workers' struggles across the country. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) plans to organize large-scale, multi-day workers' protests in major state capitals in the coming months.

In a significant political development, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) secured a decisive victory in the Sheikhpara Najrana Cooperative Election under Raninagar Block of Murshidabad district, defeating the All India Trinamool Congress.

The outcome is being viewed by political observers and local residents as an indication of the CPI(M)'s growing presence in grassroots politics in Bengal.

Party workers hailed the victory as an important boost to the CPI(M)'s organizational efforts in the state. The result is expected to strengthen the morale of party cadres and support the party's campaign to expand its influence across Bengal in the coming years.

Bengal has begun to march once again under the red flag. The people of Bengal are realizing that in times of hardship and crisis, it is this flag that stands firmly by their side.

In protest against the illegal attacks on street vendors, railway hawkers, and other working people, a march organized by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) along with other Left trade unions was held today at Sealdah Railway Station.

On the night of May 30–31, the BJP government in West Bengal, in coordination with railway authorities, carried out a bulldozer demolition drive at Dum Dum and Uttarpara railway stations under the pretext of removing encroachments.

More than 100 shops and numerous small stalls were demolished, destroying the livelihoods of hundreds of working families.

CPI(M) comrades and CITU workers stood with the affected people throughout the night and briefly forced the authorities to halt the drive. The administration later returned with a heavy police presence, dispersed the protesters, and resumed the demolitions.

Condemning the action, CPI(M) and CITU organized protest meetings and demonstrations across the state on Sunday.

Bengal

What a beautiful land you once were—
Where art found its voice,
Literature its soul,
And sport its boundless spirit.

A fertile earth where farmers toiled,
Feeding their own and distant lands alike;
A homeland of leaders whose hearts
Beat for humanity before all else.

You were a classroom for the world,
Teaching courage, reason, and hope,
Lighting paths far beyond your rivers
And the shade of your ancient trees.

But today, what do we see?

Across the horizon linger
The shadows of unrest.

The air trembles not with songs,
But with the growl of bulldozers.

People and monuments alike
Stand threatened by the storm.

Communal hatred and corruption entwine,
A two-headed serpent spreading venom through the land.

Yet listen—
What is that sound rising
From the depths of history?

A distant rhythm grows louder,
A procession drawing near.

Inquilab Zindabad!
Inquilab Zindabad!

From village paths and city streets,
From factory gates and crowded squares,
People lift their red flags high
And step forward to join the march.

And Bengal—
Long burdened by forgetfulness—
Begins once more to remember
The colors that shaped its soul,
The colors of struggle,
Of solidarity,
Of hope.

At last,
Bengal remembers its true colors.
