World TB Day 2026 Celebrated at DC Office Budgam with Launch of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Phase II and TB MUKHT Panchayat felicitation ceremony
Budgam, March 24, 2026: On the occasion of World TB Day 2026, a grand function was organized at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, DC Office Budgam by the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) Budgam. The event marked the formal launch of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Phase II (100 Days Campaign) under the chairmanship of Shri ،Athar Aamir Khan, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam.
The programme commenced with the official launch of the campaign by the DDC Budgam, aimed at accelerating efforts towards elimination of tuberculosis in the district. A school rally was also flagged off from the DC Office Budgam to main bus stand Budgam, wherein students actively participated and disseminated awareness messages regarding TB prevention, early detection, and treatment adherence among the general public.
The event witnessed participation from senior health functionaries and officials including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam,DTO budgam ،all Block Medical Officers (BMOs), Deputy CMO, District Immunization Officer (DIO), District Health Officer (DHO), Assistant Commissioner Panchayat ,Panchayati Raj Institution members, , and other concerned officers and staff.
During the main function, the DDC Budgam highlighted the importance of sustained community engagement and inter-departmental coordination in achieving the goal of a TB-free district. He emphasized the significance of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Phase II and appreciated the collective efforts being made under the National TB Elimination Programme.
A felicitation ceremony was also held to recognize the outstanding performance of Panchayats in TB elimination. A total of 283 Panchayats were declared TB-free and felicitated with Gold, Silver, and Bronze mementos along with Certificates of Appreciation. Out of these, 100 Panchayats were awarded Gold, 59 Silver, and 124 Bronze, reflecting the remarkable grassroots-level achievements in combating tuberculosis.
Speaking on the occassion,The DDC Budgam lauded the dedicated efforts of the Health Department Budgam and Panchayati Raj Institutions for their proactive role and commitment towards achieving TB-free status across the district.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards the elimination of tuberculosis and to achieve the vision of a TB Mukht Bharat and with a formal vote of thanks presented by the Chief Medical Officer Budgam and District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) Budgam, expressing gratitude to the chair, dignitaries, participants, and all stakeholders for their valuable contributions in making the event successful.

SUPERVISION AND MONITORING VISIT
Today on 07-02-2026, a team from STDC Dalgate, Srinagar visited CHC Kremshore and SDH Khan Sahab for supervision and monitoring of NTEP-related activities.
In reference to Order No. STDC/NTEP/2201-07 dated 24-01-2026, issued by the Office of the Director, TB Demonstration cm Training Centre, Srinagar, it is submitted that the supervision and monitoring visit was conducted as per the already issued order.
During the visit, Dr. Zulhema Ashraf Hakak, Medical Officer-DTC Budgam, Mr. Ata-ul-Bari Nazki, STLS (HQ), and Mr. Tanveer Ahmed, STS TU Khansahib assisted the supervision team at both CHC Kremshore and SDH Khan Sahab for effective coordination and technical facilitation.
The supervision and monitoring exercise focused on reviewing the implementation of NTEP activities at the facility level. The following key components were assessed:
Functioning of TB diagnostic services including Microscopy/NAAT/Truenat, wherever applicable
Verification of laboratory registers, records, and adherence to quality assurance protocols
Review of TB case detection, notification, treatment initiation, follow-up, and outcome recording
Assessment of drug logistics, availability of consumables, and stock maintenance
Review of reporting mechanisms, data entry, and record maintenance
Interaction with concerned staff for on-site guidance and supportive supervision
During the visit, the concerned staff were sensitized regarding strict adherence to NTEP guidelines, timely reporting, proper documentation, and strengthening of patient-centric TB care services. Necessary on-spot instructions and technical guidance were provided to address minor gaps observed during the supervision.
The supervision visit was conducted satisfactorily and is expected to contribute towards improved programme implementation, enhanced coordination, and better quality TB service delivery at the visited health facilities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the team expressed satisfaction with the overall work performance and conduct of NTEP-related activities at both the visited locations.

Visit of District Tuberculosis Officer, Budgam to TU Khansahib and CHC Kremhore regarding NTEP activities.
Today on 02/02/2026, the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Budgam, along with STLS (HQ), visited TU Khansahib and CHC Kremhore to review the implementation and functioning of activities under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). The following observations and activities were carried out during the visit:
All NTEP-related records and registers were thoroughly checked and verified at both health facilities.
The TruNat Laboratory was inspected, and the work done under NTEP was reviewed. Proper functioning of the lab and adherence to prescribed testing protocols were emphasized.
The OPD services were visited, and the concerned staff were instructed to ensure a minimum of 10% referral of OPD attendees for TB screening, as per NTEP guidelines.
Various departments including the NCD Clinic, Gynaecology Section, and other relevant sections were visited to assess TB screening, referral mechanisms, and inter-departmental coordination.
Review and discussion were held regarding TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan micro-planning, focusing on effective implementation, outreach activities, and timely reporting.
TB-Free Panchayat data was reviewed and discussed in detail. The staff were instructed to ensure proper verification, documentation, updating of records, and timely submission of TB-Free Panchayat data, in accordance with the guidelines issued under NTEP.
The staff were sensitized to ensure early identification, referral, testing, treatment initiation, follow-up, and proper documentation of all presumptive and confirmed TB cases.
Overall, the visit was aimed at strengthening the implementation of NTEP and enhancing TB screening, diagnostic services, and monitoring mechanisms at the peripheral health facilities

Meeting Note: TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Phase II
A meeting of all NTEP staff was conducted on 24/01/2026 in the office chambers of the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Budgam, under the chairpersonship of Dr. Shameema, DTO Budgam. The meeting was convened to review and discuss the micro-planning for the implementation of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (TMBA) – Phase II.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the annexures and operational guidelines related to TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. Each component of the Abhiyaan was thoroughly discussed with emphasis on planning, coordination, field-level ex*****on, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective implementation.
The DTO Budgam informed the participants that the department is in the process of kicking off the Second Phase of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which is scheduled to commence from the coming month. The importance of timely preparedness, inter-sectoral coordination, and strict adherence to program guidelines was highlighted.
Dr. Shameema, DTO Budgam, issued clear directions to all NTEP staff to ensure successful and smooth conduct of Phase II of the Abhiyaan. The staff was instructed to actively participate in planning and ex*****on, strengthen community outreach, ensure quality screening and follow-up, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting at all levels.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on collective responsibility, commitment, and coordinated efforts from all staff members to achieve the objectives of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Phase II in the District Budgam

Workshop / Training-cum-Sensitization Programme on TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative for BDO's and BMO's in District Budgam Batch l
Today, on 12th January 2026, a Workshop / Training-cum-Sensitization Programme on the TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative was organized by the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), Budgam, under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), under the chairmanship of the respected Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr. Gulzar. The programme witnessed active participation from Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Block Medical Officers (BMOs) of District Budgam.
The primary objective of the workshop was to sensitize and orient participants on the concept, objectives, and implementation strategy of the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, with special emphasis on inter-departmental convergence between the Health Department and the Rural Development Department for effective TB elimination at the grassroots level.
During the training sessions, comprehensive presentations and deliberations were held on the current tuberculosis burden, early identification of presumptive TB cases, case notification, treatment initiation and adherence, patient support mechanisms, and community engagement strategies. The pivotal role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in achieving TB elimination goals was highlighted. The roles and responsibilities of BDOs and BMOs in planning, implementation, monitoring, supervision, and reporting of TB Mukt Panchayat activities were elaborately discussed.
The training was imparted in an interactive and participatory manner by the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Medical Officer DTC, and NTEP staff, allowing participants to clarify operational aspects, share field experiences, and address implementation challenges with practical solutions. Special emphasis was laid on community awareness generation, stigma reduction, active case finding, and sustained follow-up of patients to ensure successful treatment outcomes.
A pledge was also administered during the programme, wherein all participants reaffirmed their commitment towards the TB Mukt Panchayat campaign. Slogans such as “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega” echoed during the session, reflecting collective resolve, enthusiasm, and unity of purpose to eliminate tuberculosis from the district.
The chair applauded and placed on record sincere appreciation for all the BDOs and BMOs for their excellent work, active involvement, and continued commitment towards tuberculosis prevention and control activities in District Budgam. Their proactive role and collaborative approach were acknowledged as key drivers for achieving the goal of a TB-free Budgam, and they were encouraged to sustain and further strengthen these efforts in the future.
All the respected participants expressed strong commitment to work proactively at the Panchayat, block, and village levels, ensuring effective coordination, community participation, and convergence of efforts to make District Budgam TB-free at the grassroots level, in line with the national goal of TB elimination.
The programme concluded on a highly positive and encouraging note, marked by renewed determination, shared responsibility, and collective commitment among all stakeholders to further strengthen TB control and elimination activities across District Budgam.

Mentoring & Monitoring Visit of NHM J&K Leadership to Budgam on NTEP & Other Schemes
Budgam, 13th September 2025:
Under the aegis of National Health Mission, Jammu & Kashmir, a high-level team led by Dr. Jitendra Mehta, Programme Manager NHM J&K, along with the team of Associate Programme Manager NHM J&K, WHO Consultant, and Project Officer ASHA, today conducted a comprehensive mentoring and monitoring visit to District Budgam to review the progress of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) and other allied health schemes.
The visiting team carried out a thorough review of the ongoing activities under NTEP and TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Campaign. The team visited the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) Budgam and meticulously inspected various sections including the Treatment Section, Laboratory Section, X-Ray Unit, CBNAAT and TRUENAT Laboratories, and examined all related records and registers to ensure proper implementation of programme guidelines.
Further, the team visited District Hospital Budgam and inspected all departments related to NTEP, checked documentation, and assessed performance parameters. The visit was extended to a Health & Wellness Centre (HWC), where the team reviewed the field-level implementation of the programme, including screening of vulnerable populations.
During the visit, Dr. Jitendra Mehta and the team interacted extensively with ASHAs, MLHPs, and other frontline health workers. The discussions focused on case detection, TB patient treatment and follow-up, ASHA incentives, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanisms, contact tracing, and community engagement strategies.
The visit was not only an exercise in supervision but also served as a platform for capacity building, motivation, and guidance. The visiting officers appreciated the sincere efforts of the district teams and provided valuable suggestions to further strengthen implementation at the grassroots level. Their professional insight and constructive feedback will go a long way in enhancing the quality of services being provided under NTEP in Budgam.
The mentoring spirit and visionary leadership of Dr. Jitendra Mehta and his team were widely appreciated by district officials and field workers alike. The team’s dedication to strengthening health systems and their keen interest in empowering field staff reflects the commitment of NHM J&K towards achieving the goal of a TB-free India.
The visit was accompanied by STO Kashmir, APO STC, DTO Budgam, MO-DTC, DPC DTC, and STS HQ, who assured full cooperation in implementing the recommendations shared during the visit.
This significant mentoring visit will act as a catalyst for improved programme delivery and inspire health workers across Budgam to strive harder towards the mission of eliminating TB and advancing community health under NHM.

Under the banner of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a mega TB screening camp was successfully organized today at Kachwari, Khansahib by District TB Centre, Budgam.
Despite the rainy and harsh weather conditions, a large number of people from the vulnerable population turned up for screening. A total of 175 individuals were screened during the camp, out of which 120 on-spot hand-held X-rays were conducted, and 60 sputum samples were collected.
During the screening, a few individuals were found to be presumptive for TB and were referred for NAAT testing to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.
The camp witnessed commendable efforts by ASHAs and NTEP staff, who worked tirelessly in challenging weather conditions to mobilize the community and collect samples.
The entire activity was closely monitored by BMO Khansahib and DPC, DTC Budgam. The community expressed gratitude to the health teams for organizing this important health initiative and requested that such screening camps be held regularly in the future for the benefit of the population.
District TB Centre, Budgam reiterated its commitment to intensifying TB elimination efforts and ensuring early detection and treatment for all.

Budgam, 5 September 2025:
Under the ongoing TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign, the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) Budgam today organized a comprehensive TB screening camp at PHC Narbal.
For the convenience of the vulnerable population, a handheld X-ray machine was deployed, and over 80 chest X-rays were conducted on the spot by the trained X-ray team from DTC Budgam. Additionally, 48 samples were collected for TrueNAAT testing and referred to CHC Magam for further analysis.
The entire activity was conducted under the supervision of BMO Magam, MOTC Magam, ZMO PHC Narbal, and DPC DTC Budgam, ensuring smooth ex*****on and quality screening.
During the Health camp , ZMO PHC Narbal provided all the support to District NTEP team and also mobilized all the Vulnerable population of Zone Narbal for on spot xray.
ASHA workers played a crucial role in mobilization, sample collection, and line listing of the vulnerable population. Their proactive communication with the community resulted in strong participation from local residents.
The NTEP team of Block Magam was appreciated for their dedicated efforts in organizing the camp and contributing to the goal of early TB detection and treatment as part of the national mission to eliminate tuberculosis.

Today on 04/09/2025 Under the banner of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Campaign, the District Tuberculosis Centre Budgam today organized special screening camps at Qadipora Block Budgam , covering valunerable population of both workplace congregate setting workers and community members
At Screening site more than 150 valunerable population were screened and the medical team done more than 50 on spot x-rays with portable handheld x-ray machine and collected 60+ plus sputum samples for NAAT testing ensuring early detection of presumptive TB cases and sensitizing the workforce about TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment facilities.Few individuals were found presumptive for TB and immediately referred for NAAT testing..
The campaign team actively conducted screening under the supervision of the Block Medical Officer Budgam and the District Programme Coordinator, DTC Budgam, who played a commendable role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the activities. The X-rays were carried out by trained Senior X-ray Technician, ensuring quality diagnostic support, while the Block NTEP team and Asha's also did a commendable job in mobilization, screening, and follow-up of presumptive cases.
These focused interventions reaffirm the commitment of the health department towards achieving the goal of a TB-Free India by extending diagnostic services to high-risk groups, ensuring early case detection, and providing patient-centric care under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

Today on 16/05/2025 under the chaimanship of Chief Medical Officer Budgam and District Tuberculosis Officer Budgam Training cm Micro planning programme imparted to CHO's,ZMO's',MLHP's ,Asha Coordinator and MO-PHi's(2 Batches) was organised at DTC Budgam regarding The "100 Days Intensified TB Campaign which " is focused on time-bound effort by the Government of India to accelerate TB detection, reduce TB deaths, and prevent new infections.
During the programme, resource persons emphasized the importance of precise and timely reporting in achieving the goals of the campaign and encouraged all participants to work diligently and collaboratively, stressing that their efforts would directly contribute to the success of the 100 Days Intensified TB Campaign.
The campaign emphasizes active case finding by targeting high-risk and vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, malnourished individuals, diabetics, smokers, cancer patients, and tribal communities. Health teams visit these groups to conduct screenings, educate them about TB symptoms, prevention, and treatment, and offer continuous support to ensure successful recovery.

The staff was informed about the role of Community involvement that plays a crucial role in the campaign's success. Local leaders, including elected representatives, religious figures, and self-help groups, actively participate in sensitizing the public about TB.
Enrollment under Saksham platform was also held on the occasion almost 100 training certificates were generated successfully.

World Tuberculosis Day Observed at Riyar ich crossing Budgam

DTC Budgam, March 24: World Tuberculosis (TB) Day was observed today at Riyar ich Budgam under the theme "YES! WE CAN END TB – Commit, Invest, Deliver." The event aimed to raise awareness about TB and encourage early diagnosis and treatment.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam, Dr. Mohd Ayoub Fateh khan,and Dr Shamima DTO Budgam addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of recognizing TB symptoms early. They urged school students and the general public to spread awareness and encourage suspected cases to undergo sputum tests and X-rays at the nearest Designated Microscopy Centre (DMC) or Tuberculosis Unit (TU). Symptoms such as a persistent cough lasting more than a week, evening fever, weight loss, and loss of appetite were identified as key indicators of TB.
Dr. Khan informed that out of the total 298 panchayats in the district, 168 have already been declared TB-free. He added that ongoing health camps and awareness activities are being conducted in other panchayats to eliminate the disease.
The event featured street rally by School students, emphasizing the importance of TB awareness and prevention. A rally from the hospital to the market was also held, with participants chanting slogans like "Yes! We Can End TB."
The event underscored the commitment of health authorities in Budgam to achieve TB targets through early detection, treatment, and community support.
