Strengthening State–NCC Synergy 🤝🇮đŸ‡ŗ

On 27 August 2026, the ADG NCC Directorate, West Bengal & Sikkim, met with the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, Dr Manoj Agarwal. They discussed key NCC-related matters, pending issues, and measures to strengthen the NCC ecosystem throughout the state. The meeting was also attended by Shri Binod Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department, and Smt Sanghamitra Ghosh, Home Secretary of the Government of West Bengal.

The ADG briefed the Chief Secretary on the NCC’s significant role in youth development, character building, leadership, discipline, national integration, and grooming responsible citizens. Discussions focused on addressing pending issues and creating an enabling environment for expanding and effectively functioning NCC activities across West Bengal. The Chief Secretary assured the ADG of the State Government’s full support in resolving these issues and further strengthening NCC activities. The interaction reaffirmed the strong and shared commitment of the NCC and the Government of West Bengal to empowering youth and providing them with greater opportunities to develop values like discipline, leadership, service, and nation-building 🇮đŸ‡ŗ

Maj Gen APS Chahal, ADG NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim, called on Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, Shri Jagannath Chattopadhyay, to discuss the wide-ranging NCC activities being carried out across the state under the aegis of NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim. The interaction highlighted NCC’s pivotal role in shaping disciplined, responsible and nation-building youth while also bringing to the fore the key challenges faced in expanding its reach and strengthening training infrastructure.

The Hon’ble Minister assured the ADG of the Government of West Bengal’s wholehearted support in furthering the growth of NCC across the state and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to working closely with the Directorate to empower more young men and women through the ideals of Unity and Discipline.
As a start, NCC West Bengal looks forward to revisiting its roots in Calcutta University and UCC.
