Rashtriya e Market Services Pvt Ltd ReMS is a special purpose vehicle incorporated to implement market reforms to bring in efficiency and transparency in the agricultural marketing system.

The Karnataka Government initiated action to reform the agricultural markets in the state. In this direction a market reforms committee was set up on 27th March 2013. The committee headed by Additional Secretary (Market Reforms), Government of Karnataka submitted its report on 27th May 2013. Based on the recommendations of the committee, Government initiated several steps and incorporated a SPV na

mely Rashtriya e Market Services Private Limited (ReMS). It has a mandate to implement Agricultural Marketing Policy and market reforms to bring in efficiency and transparency in the agricultural marketing system for efficient price discovery to benefit farmers and other market participants. ReMS provides “A complete technology and management solution for modernising markets in state and operating the markets at a par with international practices”. ReMS has been conceived to blend public interest with the initiative of a private enterprise for establishing, operating, managing, specialized electronic trading platform called Unified Market Platform (UMP) for auctioning of farmer’s produce to implement the ambitious reform agenda envisaged in the agricultural regulated markets in Karnataka State. The approach of Karnataka in establishment of ReMS focussed on two major activities in agricultural marketing through APMCs. Automation of auction process: Licensing procedures were simplified and APMCs were unified through online integration, thus increasing competition. MIS of markets: Covering all the operations of APMCs and thus managing APMC became easy and submitting statutory report even easier. Market integration by ReMS
Rashtriya e Market Services (ReMS) has succeeded in integrating 53 major markets in the state to use this unique platform for lot entry, bidding, winner list declaration, post auction activities, MIS reports, stock management, commodity management and all related market operations. Traders use this platform to submit bids for commodity procurement and “Anytime-Anywhere e-Permit” module offer best way to generate e-permit against available stocks giving complete flexibility for e-permit generation to transport commodity. Efficient exception management system is vigilant enough not to allow the bids to vary beyond set limits ensuring fair trade practices. The unified market platform has been implemented in 53markets spread across 23 district, trading 92 commodities in Karnataka. It aims at covering all the 155 main market yards as well as 354 sub-yards in years to come. Till date 21 lakhs lots, 3 crore quintals of commodity worth Rs.8000 crores has been traded on platform. Through the establishment of ReMS, the State has set an example of market integration.
