Conservator of Forests North Circle Reviews Development and Conservation Works in JV Forest Division Baramulla
Baramulla, June 17:
Conservator of Forests, North Circle, Irfan Ali Shah (IFS)today conducted an extensive visit to various ranges of the JV Forest Division Baramulla and reviewed ongoing developmental, conservation, and afforestation activities being carried out by the Forest Department. During the visit, he inspected works undertaken in Doabgah Range, Soil Conservation Range, and Baramulla Range, including nurseries, closures, boundary pillars, and other field projects.
The Conservator was accorded a warm welcome by officers and staff of the division. Accompanying him were DFO JV Forest Division Baramulla Zahid Aslam Mughal(DCF) Range Officer Baramulla Rameez Raja, Range Officer Doabgah Javed Iqbal Khema, Range Officer Soil Conservation Baint Singh, along with several block officers.
During the inspection of forest nurseries, Irfan Ali Shah reviewed the quality of saplings, maintenance practices, and the availability of planting stock for upcoming afforestation programmes. He emphasized the adoption of modern nursery management techniques to ensure the successful achievement of plantation targets across forest areas.
He also visited various forest closures and appreciated the efforts being made to promote natural regeneration and protect forest resources. Stressing the importance of forest conservation, he directed the concerned officers to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to prevent illegal felling, encroachments, and other violations affecting forest lands.
The Conservator further inspected boundary pillars and other protective structures established in forest areas. Highlighting their significance in safeguarding government forest property, he instructed officials to ensure their proper maintenance and timely repair wherever required.
During the visit, ongoing soil and water conservation projects were also reviewed. He expressed satisfaction with measures aimed at controlling soil erosion, conserving water resources, and promoting environmentally sustainable practices. He noted that the protection of forests and ecological resources is essential for addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change.
Appreciating the dedication and hard work of field staff, Irfan Ali Shah said that the efforts of Forest Department officers and employees in forest protection, afforestation, and natural resource conservation are highly commendable. He further urged officials to enhance public participation and strengthen awareness campaigns to educate local communities about the importance of forests and environmental conservation.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Conservator expressed satisfaction over the progress of various projects and voiced confidence that the JV Forest Division Baramulla would continue to play a significant role in forest conservation, afforestation, and the promotion of sustainable environmental practices. Officers also briefed him in detail about the status of ongoing projects, challenges being faced in the field, and future plans for the division.
