On the eve of his transfer, Shri Minga Sherpa( IAS) Deputy Commissioner of Bla was accorded a warm and respectful farewell by the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bla.
In a gracious gesture of appreciation and goodwill, CAHO Bla presented a token of gratitude to Shri Minga Sherpa in recognition of his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment & distinguished service rendered during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner. His tenure has been marked by administrative excellence, people centric governance and significant developmental initiatives that have greatly benefited the district.
While presenting the gift, the representatives of CAHO Bla lauded Shri Sherpa’s visionary guidance, dedication to public welfare and his collaborative approach in strengthening institutional coordination. The occasion concluded on a note of goodwill, with officer and staff.

Inauguration of FMD Round VI Programme and Launch by Worthy Deputy commissioner Baramulla Shri Minga shirpa(IAS).
Today, on 16/6/2025 the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Control Programme was formally inaugurated by the Worthy Deputy Commissioner Baramulla at veterinary campus in presence of Chief Animal husbandry officer Baramulla and other sectoral officers
The initiative, undertaken under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) aims to eradicate FMD by 2030 through mass vaccination of livestock. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla emphasized the importance of animal health in boosting rural economy and supporting livestock-based livelihoods. He appreciated the efforts of the Animal Husbandry Department and urged farmers to actively participate in the programme to ensure its success. A vaccination drive was also launched on the spot, with field teams demonstrating the procedure and briefing farmers about the benefits of timely vaccination.

Today on May 22, 2025,Mr. Sandeep Kumar (IFS), Mission Director, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), today visited the Composite Broiler Farm-cum-Hatchery and Feed Mill established by Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Kakroo at Binner,Baramulla.He was accompanied by Dr. Parwinder Singh Sudan, Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Kashmir and Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Director, Sheep Husbandry Department,Kashmir
The dignitaries were also joined by Mr Yagvinder Singh, Joint Director,Agriculture; Dr. G.A. Lone, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Baramulla; Dr. Showkat Ahmad, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Baramulla; besides Mr Showkat AD,Fisheries and other sectoral officers of the Animal husbandry department.
The officer inspected the unit, which has been established under the Poultry Development Programme of HADP. The Officers present at the venue briefed the visiting team about the objectives of this Poultry Unit in relation to the broader vision of poultry development in the Kashmir Division, with particular focus on Baramulla district.
The unit, first of its kind in the Kashmir Division, has been set up at a cost exceeding ₹110 lakh, with a departmental subsidy of ₹36 lakh provided by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Baramulla. The beneficiary has procured high-quality parent stock from one of India’s most reputed poultry enterprises. These birds will be raised for egg production, which will then be used for hatching Day-Old Chicks (DOCs), contributing significantly to local poultry production and self-sufficiency.
Mr. Sandeep Kumar expressed keen interest in the functioning of the unit and commended both the beneficiary and the department for their commendable efforts. He emphasized the potential impact of such initiatives in boosting rural livelihoods and strengthening the poultry sector in the valley.

Today on 29-04-2025, the Worthy Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (Dr. Ghulam Ahmad Lone), Baramulla, chaired a comprehensive review meeting with the staff of the LDO Sopore organization. During the visit, he conducted an extensive tour of the premises, assessing ongoing activities and initiatives.
He also visited the newly established Hydroponic Fodder Unit and Hay Silage Unit at Amargarh, appreciating the progress made and the potential of these modern fodder production techniques.
The Officer shared valuable insights and issued key directions to ensure the effective implementation of flagship departmental schemes, including HADP, NAIP, NADCP, and others.
The visit reflects the department’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and improved service delivery in the animal husbandry sector.

On 27-02-2025 Animal Husbandry Department, Uri, organised Awareness Program under Aspirational Block Development Program
The Animal Husbandry Department, Uri, successfully conducted an awareness program under the Aspirational Block Development Program (ABDP), aimed at promoting sustainable livestock management and enhancing livelihood opportunities for local farmers.
The program, held at Dak buglow uri, was graced by Hon’ble MLA Uri Dr sajad Shafi and witnessed the participation of Chief Anjmal husbandry officer baramulla, Block veterinary officer uri, Veterinary Astt. surgeon of Uri, livestock farmers, and community representatives. Experts from the department gave detailed overview of departmental activities going on in the area to the worthy MLA Uri and provided valuable insights on modern animal husbandry practices, disease prevention, breed improvement, and government-sponsored schemes. The event also included distribution of Kits among Pashu Sakhis , tablets, flaggingof bikes, sanction letters of HADP , KCC etc.
