North Kashmir Police (NKR) Range consists of district police of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipore and police districts Handwara and Sopore.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police (Urdu: جموں و کشمیر پولیس‎) or JKP, was established in 1873 and is the law enforcement agency, having primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the twenty two districts of the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India. The department serves an area of 85,806 square miles (222,236 sq km) and a population of 12,548,926 people at the 2011 census. JKP wo

rks with the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force, and other Paramilitary forces of India to keep the state secure from incursions from Pakistan.

***“Strengthening the Shield: Range Level Training Programme on Investigation of Terror Financing Cases Concludes at Baramulla”***

Baramulla 28th March, 2026: The RPHQ Baramulla successfully concluded a Range Level Training Programme on “Investigation of Terror Financing Cases” under the ongoing Capacity Building Initiative of J&K Police. Designed to sharpen the professional edge of field officers across North Kashmir Range, the programme focused on dismantling the financial lifelines of terrorism.

The event was inaugurated by DIG North Kashmir Range Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) with SSP Baramulla Shri. Gurinderpal Singh (IPS) and other officers in attendance underscoring its institutional importance. Eminent speakers from the Prosecution and SIA J&K delivered sessions on fund tracing, inter-agency coordination, evidence collection and case study analysis, equipping participants with practical tools for stronger investigations and successful prosecutions.

Officers from the ranks of Dy.SsP, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors from all districts of North Kashmir Range actively engaged, appreciating the interactive discussions and actionable guidance. Speaking on the Occasion DIG NKR Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) emphasized that the true worth of such initiatives lies in their practical application—whether in tracing illicit flows, preparing robust case files or ensuring convictions.

The programme concluded with mementos presented to guest speakers, and participants expressed renewed resolve to apply the insights gained. It was hailed as a significant step in reinforcing professional competencies, justice delivery and public trust, forming part of the ongoing series of range-level capacity-building initiatives.

****“Range Police Headquarters Baramulla Wraps Up Two-Day Training Programme on Prosecution & Conviction of UAPA and NDPS Cases” ****

Baramulla, 14th March 2026: The Range Police Headquarters Baramulla successfully concluded a two-day Range Level Training Programme on Prosecution and Conviction of UAPA and NDPS Cases at the Conference Hall, District Police Lines Baramulla. The programme was organized under the ongoing Capacity Building Initiative of J&K Police, aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of field officers across North Kashmir Range.
The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest DIG North Kashmir Range, Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS). The Valediction ceremony was attended by Addl. SP District Baramulla and other senior officers and officials from RPHQ Baramulla, reflecting the institutional importance of the initiative.

The technical sessions were conducted by eminent guest speakers from the Judiciary, Prosecution, Narcotics Control Bureau and J&K Police, who shared their expertise on critical aspects such as UAPA procedures under BNSS, NDPS enforcement and forensic sampling, bridging investigation gaps, strengthening evidence collection and case study analysis. The sessions were designed to sharpen investigative skills and ensure that field officers are better equipped to secure successful prosecutions and convictions in complex cases.
Participating officers from the ranks of Dy.SsP, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors representing all districts of North Kashmir Range engaged actively in the programme. Their involvement underscored the relevance of the training, with officers appreciating the practical insights and interactive discussions that enriched their professional knowledge.

The valediction ceremony marked the formal conclusion of the programme. Certificates were distributed among the participating officers, while mementos were presented to the guest speakers in recognition of their valuable contribution. Officers shared positive feedback, noting that the training was both informative and transformative in shaping their professional approach.

Speaking at the conclusion, DIG North Kashmir Range Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) expressed pride in the successful conduct of the programme and emphasized that the true measure of such initiatives lies in their application in the field—whether in preparing case files, presenting evidence in court or ensuring that investigations culminate in convictions. Baramulla 17th February 2026: The two-day Range Level Training Programme on “Field Intelligence and Inter-Agency Coordination” concluded today at District Police Lines (DPL), Baramulla. The programme, inaugurated on 16th February, 2026 by DIG North Kashmir Range Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) was attended by SSP District Baramulla Shri. Gurinderpal Singh (IPS), SSP PD Sopore Shri. Iftikhar Talib (JKPS), Addl. SP District Baramulla Shri. Hariprasad K.K (IPS), Guest Speakers invited for the Programme and senior officers of Range Police Headquarters, Baramulla. Trainee officers from all districts and police districts of North Kashmir Range participated, representing ranks from Dy.SPs, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors.

The Programme was organized by Range Police Headquarters, Baramulla in pursuance of the directives of Police Headquarters J&K as a part of the ongoing Capacity Building Programme aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of field officers. The two-day schedule included interactive sessions, expert lectures and case-study based exercises focusing on techniques of field intelligence generation, best practices in operational coordination and strengthening inter-agency synergy for effective law enforcement.

In his inaugural address, DIG North Kashmir Range emphasized the critical importance of intelligence-led policing and seamless coordination among agencies in safeguarding public order and countering emerging security challenges, lauding the initiative as a forward-looking step in professional development.

At the valediction today, the trainee officers and guest speakers were felicitated with participation certificates and mementos, acknowledging their commitment and contribution.
