Sopore Police Solves Robbery Case; Accused Arrested, Stolen Gold Earrings Recovered
Sopore, August 22, 2026:
Sopore Police has solved a robbery case and arrested the accused involved in the commission of the offence. The stolen gold earrings have also been recovered.
On 04.08.2026, Police Post Bus Stand Sopore received a complaint from a woman resident of Seelo, Sopore, stating that an unknown person had deceitfully taken her from Bus Stand Sopore towards Amargarh, where he allegedly threatened her with a knife and forcibly took away her gold earrings.
Accordingly, FIR No. 192/2026 under Section 309(4) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were examined and, on the basis of sustained investigation and other evidence gathered in the case, the accused was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat S/O Abdul Majeed Bhat R/O Yunsoo, Langate, Handwara and subsequently arrested.
During further investigation, the stolen gold earrings were recovered at the instance of the accused and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.
Further investigation is underway to complete all necessary legal formalities and ascertain any other relevant aspects of the case.
