At the period of Mughals, Ram Sundar Mitra had got the Laminar at Barasat town. After that in 1600 AD Pratapaditya (Bengali: প্রতাপাদিত্য). The king of Jessore (Bengali: যশোর) (at present in Bangladesh) had lost the battle. After that his commander of soldiers Sankar Chakrabrorty came to Barasat and established himself in Barasat town. He had done many development works of Barasat town during that period.
