On 10/03/2026, as part of the International Women’s Day celebration, the women of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the jurisdiction of Sandur Town Municipality were taken on a visit to the Solid Waste Management Unit. During the visit, the participants were given information about the MRF (Material Recovery Facility) unit, the process of preparing compost from wet waste, and the recycling of dry waste. They were also informed about the preparation of coco peat compost, the windrow composting method, and the various daily activities carried out at the unit.

All the participating women were given awareness about these waste management practices, and the women also shared their opinions and experiences during the program. ♻️🌿

As part of International Women’s Day, the Town Panchayath Tekkalakote organized a Solid Waste Management (SWM) Study Tour for Self Help Group (SHG) members. The SHG members visited the SWM site at Tekkalakote and learned about effective waste management practices.
During the visit, the participants were shown how wet waste is converted into compost and how dry waste is segregated and processed. The program also included an awareness session on the harmful effects of single-use plastic and the importance of reducing plastic waste.
To encourage eco-friendly practices, the Town Panchayath distributed cloth bags and vermi compost to all the attendees.
The initiative helped SHG members understand sustainable waste management practices and motivated them to promote cleanliness and environmental protection in the community.

🌸 International Women’s Day Celebration – Ballari Dist Kudathini Town 🌸

As part of the Women’s Day celebration, women who have done outstanding work in cleanliness, Solid Waste Management, and door-to-door public awareness activities in Kudathini Town were identified and honored. Appreciation letters and mementos were presented in recognition of their dedicated efforts toward maintaining a clean environment.

On this occasion, a “Plastic-Free City” awareness program was also organized in Kudathini Town to encourage responsible waste management and reduce plastic usage.

The program was attended by the Chief Officer of Kudathini and the Community Mobilizers, who appreciated the valuable contribution of women in promoting cleanliness and proper waste segregation in the town.

On 08/03/2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, competitions were organized at SRS Sports Ground in Sandur Municipal Council limits under the guidance of Honorable MLA Mrs. Annapurna Madam. Around 800 women participated in the event.

All the women who attended responsibly disposed of their used plates directly into the municipal vehicle instead of throwing them around, helping maintain cleanliness. Awareness was created about Swachhata, encouraging everyone to support the mission of making Sandur clean and plastic-free.

Best wishes were also conveyed to everyone on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
