Benaulim Block Congress Celebrates 80th Independence Day; Felicitates Community Contributors and Launches Assam Flood Relief Drive

Benaulim, 15 August 2026:
The Benaulim Block Congress celebrated the 80th Independence Day at its Block Office in Benaulim with a flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by a felicitation programme and the launch of an Assam flood relief material collection drive.

Benaulim Block Congress President Mr. Keith Gracias hoisted the National Flag in the presence of party workers, members and supporters. The occasion was followed by a felicitation ceremony recognising individuals who have made notable contributions to the community.

Two young entrepreneurs, Mr. Lessley Pereira and Mr. Welrico D’Costa, were felicitated for their entrepreneurial spirit and contribution to the local community. Former Cavelossim Sarpanch Mrs. Rosa Martinha Dias was also felicitated in recognition of her dedicated service to the community.

On the occasion, the Benaulim Block Congress launched an Assam Flood Relief Material Drive, appealing to the people of the Benaulim constituency to come forward and contribute essential materials for the people affected by the devastating floods in Assam.

Relief materials will be collected at the Benaulim Block Congress Office from 15 August 2026 to 21 August 2026. The Block Congress has urged citizens to participate generously in the humanitarian initiative and extend solidarity to the affected families in Assam.

Speaking at the programme, Benaulim ZP Member Mrs. Luiza Rodrigues, along with Mr. Solon Furtado and Mr. Paul Lobo, addressed those present and highlighted the importance of community participation and extending a helping hand to people in distress.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Benaulim Block Congress Secretary Mr. Jason Andrade, who thanked all those who attended the Independence Day celebration and appealed for wholehearted public participation in the Assam flood relief initiative.

The Benaulim Block Congress reiterated that the spirit of Independence Day is not only about celebrating freedom but also about standing together with fellow citizens in times of adversity and extending a helping hand to those in need.

Benaulim Block Congress Holds First Meeting with GPCC President Girish Chodankar

The Benaulim Block Congress held its first official meeting with GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar today. During the meeting, the Block presented a detailed report of the work and initiatives undertaken over the past session.

The discussions also focused on the roadmap for the 2027 Assembly Elections, with valuable inputs on strengthening the organisation, expanding grassroots outreach, and implementing effective strategies to further connect with the people of the constituency.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to work unitedly for the progress of the party and the welfare of the people of Benaulim.
