New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Sarabjit Movie ReviewStars - 3/5Its, worth to watch Omung Kumar's second biopic (first one being 'Mary Kom') - 'Sarbjit' - captures the grit and courage of a sister who is fighting for her jailed brother, in a different country. The movie which orchestrates an amalgamation of a powerful star cast and commendable narration is packed with the right ingredients to render a heavy impact on the audiences this year. Kudos to Omung for telling a true story which needed to be told for a long time now.

Sarbjit' reiterates the struggle of a sister, Daljit Kaur (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who has abandoned her comforts in order to pursue the release of her farmer brother Sarabjit Singh Attwal (Randeep Hooda) from a Pakistani Jail. Sarabjit is mistakenly jailed after he accidentally lands on the other side of the border one night. What follows is a series of events that are more or less directed towards the release of Sarabjit from the jail – and a grim portrayal of heart wrenching human right violations that happen in the dark confines of the jail.

Owing to the greatness of a true story, 'Sarbjit' manages to evoke the sentiments which are well deserved for this young farmer in Punjab who playfully, or rather in an inebriated state landed himself in the most unfortunate of a situation that altered the fate of his whole family. The event that took place in the 1990s shook the nation only at a later phase, after the unwavering fight of his older sister Daljit came to the fore. It's Daljit's promise to herself, her father and Sarabjit's wife which made her do everything she could do in her power to release her brother. At a later stage, we see the rest of Sarabjit's family joining in to carry out the candle light vigils and rallies to bring justice to the man.

This is the story of true heroism, unfaltering commitment and determination of a sister, but mind you, it is not the struggle of a sister alone as implicated, but it's the years-long endeavours of people who struggled for him, mostly the women (Sarabjit's wife, daughters and sister), who sacrificed their whole lives in achieving this goal.

Overall powered by good story telling and amazing performances, 'Sarbjit' is bound to sail ahead, anchored by its true spirit and commitment.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Suresh Prabhu - First bullet train to run in India by 2023
The honourable Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said the first bullet train will run in India in 2023 starting a new era in train operations in the subcontinent. “In 2023, the first bullet train will run in India. We have already discussed the phases of bullet train project,” Prabhu told PTI. The bullet train is expected to cover 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in about two hours, running at a maximum speed of 350 kmph and operating speed of 320 kmph.

People will get the thrill of riding under the sea while travelling between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on the first bullet train of the country. The 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor will have a 21 km tunnel under the sea. Estimated to cost about Rs 97,636 crore, 81 per cent of the funding for the project will come by way of the loan from Japan. The estimate includes possible cost escalation, interest during construction and import duties. It is a soft loan for 50 years at 0.1 per cent annual interest with a 15- year moratorium.

As per detailed project report proposed by Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA), while most part of the corridor is proposed to be on the elevated track, there will be a stretch after Thane creek towards Virar which will run under the sea. Rolling stock and other equipment like signalling and power system will be imported from Japan as per the loan agreement.

An official said the loan agreement with Japan is slated to be signed by the end of the year and construction work is likely to begin by the end of 2018. Railways has already allotted Rs 200 crore for the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in which Maharashtra and Gujarat will have equity of 25 per cent each and the Indian Railways will have 50 per cent. Asked about other possible routes being taken up for such high-speed trains, Prabhu said studies are being conducted to link various metropolitan cities of the country.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Seems bored of anarkalis! Change your ethnic look
Hey ladies, you have lot of other options. Try something new. Do not worry about the fashion, whatever you wear will become fashion. Go for pre-stitched saris in western silhouettes over traditional drape and try shararas with straight cut kurtas over anarkalis for an innovative look during special occasions if you’re tired of the tried-and-tested, says an expert. Designer Divya Gupta says one can break the conventionalism in fashion by opting for designs that look bold, yet traditional. From flared palazzos and shararas to opting for fabrics like chiffon and moonga silk, here are a few tips on how one can innovate with a traditional look.

The monotony of anarkalis has given way to straighter — yet detailed and modern — silhouettes teamed with the flared palazzos and skirts that accentuate the curvy Indian figure. Body hugging shararas in innovative lycra fabrics teamed with capes has become a key trend in Indian fashion. The minimalist dressing has taken over the Indian fashion industry as well with the sari becoming essentially minimalist and young — making it truly modern, yet close to its roots. The form has become non-conventional with stitched saris taking over the orthodox drape. Saris teamed with capes is also a modern take on the typical Indian wear for special occasions.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Kerala girl r***d for 2 months, took board exams
Growing up in a broken home, with her father abandoning the family soon after her birth and her mother a patient of depression for as long as she can remember, a Dalit minor who was allegedly r***d by nearly a dozen men for nearly two months is now at a rescue home here. The 15-year-old was rescued a week ago, and remains in shock.
Officials say the girl continued to attend classes through the two months that she was reportedly blackmailed and r***d, and even took her Class X examinations. She has said she hopes to continue her studies, according to counsellors at the rescue home.

As per police, the girl has told them that the main accused, an auto-rickshaw driver named Aamir, contacted her first on this cellphone number, and they became friends. Then, on February 2, Aamir allegedly rang up and called her out to rush over to help as her cousin was engaged in a drunken brawl. Along with a friend, whom the police have identified as Anoop Shah, Aamir reportedly made the girl sit in an auto-rickshaw and took her to an abandoned area. “The two of them r***d, tortured the girl by turns – and both filmed it on their cellphone. They showed her the video and warned her that the videos would be put out on social media if she told anything about the sexual abuse,” a police officer said. While Shah has been arrested along with eight others, Aamir is on the run. The minor has told police she was abused at least 10 times by several men, mostly at Aamir’s house, in the two months that followed. “At times there were multiple men — if she tried to fight back, they forced her to smoke g***a in bidi or forced liquor down her throat,” a source at the rescue home said. Later, Aamir would reportedly either drop her home or give her money to reach home. The source at the counselling centre said the girl may have also been tortured with cigarette burns found on her private parts.

The girl claims that since she used to go to dance classes after school and often returned late, her mother did not suspect anything. On the few occasions that she was allegedly forced to stay overnight by Aamir and others, the victim apparently convinced her mother that she was at a friend’s home. On March 30, the alleged abuse was revealed when Aamir and Shah were seen trying to force the girl to go with three persons, and she resisted. “As the two manhandled her, the victim started screaming, alerting local people, who forced Aamir’s auto-rickshaw to a halt,” the source said. While Aamir and Shah fled, the locals took the girl to police station. Police said the nine people arrested are all young men engaged in casual jobs or work as drivers.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Bhopal: Habibganj ROB ready, not connecting roads
The 1.8 kilometre six-lane Habibganj railway-over-bridge (ROB) – the longest flyover in the Madhya Pradesh capital – will only add to chaos in the stretch connecting Arera Colony with Hoshangabad road, a report prepared by the traffic department with the help of Bhopal municipal corporation engineers has found. The flyover is set to be inaugurated on April 13.

According to the report, released 10 days back, the corporation ignored the fact that roads were not wide enough the carry the heavy traffic that would start moving from Chetak Bridge towards Ganesh Mandir, Habibganj Naka to reach Hoshangabad road once the flyover was opened to the public. Additional superintendent of police (traffic) Sameer Yadav said to ensure smooth traffic flow, the BMC should have constructed a rotary near Ganesh Mandir so that vehicles coming from the Board Office Square and Arera Colony did not run into each other.

“Vehicles will be moving in high speed over the ROB and there are chances of accidents. All the arrangements should have been made before the inauguration. We will try to manage the traffic, but infrastructural improvement is necessary,” said Yadav. The report also says the BMC should remove encroachment between Board Office Square and Ganesh Mandir to widen the service lane before inaugurating the ROB. It also maintained that Red Buses and mini buses should not be allowed in the area.

The ASP (traffic) also pointed out that installation of traffic lights and signage on the approaching road connecting the ROB to Fracture Hospital was pending.
When approached on the issue, BMC city engineer OP Bhardwaj said, “We are installing guards at the ROB and also putting signage for commuters. We will work on the other suggestions, like improvement in the service road and widening of road, within a few months.”

The Rs 82-crore Habibganj ROB will fork out in three directions--one arm extending from RRL trisection to Arera Colony near Ganesh Temple side of Habibganj Naka and the other will connect RRL trisection and Bhopal Fracture Hospital. Extension wing of ROB would facilitate traffic towards All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal. The six-lane flyover, stretching 1.8-km, is seeks to reduce traffic load at Chetak Bridge and Railway crossing.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Condoms, Diapers And Sanitary Pads Will Be Sold With Disposal PouchesManufacturers of condoms and products like diapers, sanitary pads/napkins and tampons in India will now have to give out pouches or wrappers with each pack for their proper disposal. The environment ministry on Tuesday made the provision mandatory under its new solid waste management rules, keeping in mind the reluctance of ragpickers to handle used sanitary pads, diapers and condoms if not wrapped.

The new rules will be implemented across the country by local civic authorities, which have also been empowered to charge a 'user fee' from bulk waste generators and impose a 'spot fine' for littering and non-segregation of wastes at source. Bulk waste generators include new gated townships, group housing societies, institutions, resident welfare as well as market associations, hotels, restaurants and event management companies, among others.

Though the rules came into force on Tuesday, local authorities and 'panchayats' of all census towns and urban agglomerations have been given a six-month window to prepare a solid waste management plan in keeping with the state policy. Local bodies in-charge of areas with a population of one million or more will have to set up solid waste processing facilities within two years.

"All ragpickers across the country will be registered. They will also be provided training on disposing of all kinds of waste in a scientific manner so that it cannot affect their health," he added. Noting that burning solid waste leads to air pollution, the minister said, "Burning of solid waste and biomass is a crime now, and will be dealt with severely under the Environment Protection Act."

The jurisdiction of the new rules has for the first time been extended beyond municipal areas to cover all urban agglomerations, notified industrial areas, census towns, areas under the control of Indian railways, airports, airbases, ports, defence establishments and even places of religious/historical importance.
"We are committed to help Bihar make its ban successful. The task forces have been activated along the border to stop all liquor smuggling," Singh said.

New post added at BhopalNewsUpdates - Chickens Are Being Fed Antibiotics In India, And Harming Our Health Badly
In India, one-third of the population is vegetarian, and many people who do eat non-vegetarian food don’t eat beef, or pork, or both, making chicken the most popularly consumed meat here. According to a report by Bloomberg, consumption of chicken has multiplied 14 times since 1985!

Broiler companies are giving farmers antibiotics for the chickens. The Bloomberg report claims that SR Group, a broiler company, gives farmers chicks to raise, and then buys them back when they are ready for slaughter. Along with the chicks, the broiler company allegedly also gives the farmers chicken feed and antibiotics for the chickens.

These antibiotics are harmful because they are promoting antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics are drugs that kill bacteria and therefore help us fight bacterial infections. From battling diseases like tuberculosis to preventing infections during and after surgeries, antibiotics are crucial to saving lives. Without them, everything from a simple hip replacement surgery to an organ transplant could be fatal.

"The rise of antibiotic resistance is a global health crisis. More and more governments recognise (it as) one of the greatest threats to health today," said Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the WHO. She warned that if left unchecked, drug resistance "will mean the end of modern medicine as we know it."
In the report, the WHO urges doctors around the world to use antibiotics sparingly and prescribe them only when absolutely necessary. However, it seems like chicken farmers in India are doing the exact opposite!

Some of the antibiotics used in India are not approved for poultry in the U.S., Canada, E.U. and Australia.
According to the Bloomberg report, SR Group is directing farmers to give chickens anywhere from three to five antibiotics over six weeks, starting from the day the chicks are delivered! These drugs are supposedly added to the birds’ drinking water. One of these antibiotics is the only cure for extremely dangerous bloodstream infections in human beings. (Imagine if the antibiotic is no longer effective, how many people will die because we don’t have a cure for these deadly infections!) Out of the five antibiotics allegedly being given to the chickens, while all of them are legal in India, two of them are banned or not approved for use in the U.S., Canada, European Union and Australia.

Globally, animals consume more antibiotics than humans, and it is believed that by 2030, animal consumption of antibiotics will increase by 67%. Most of this antibiotic consumption is predicted to be in developing countries like India, China and Brazil, as these countries are increasing livestock production to meet global demands.
“We have to use more medicines these days,” said G. Bal Reddy, an Indian farmer. “Diseases have become harder to beat in the last two to three years.”Thousands of people are already dying, in India especially.
The Indian government doesn’t keep data on the number of deaths caused due to antibiotic resistance, but a study by researcher Ramanan Laxminarayan estimates that 58,000 newborn babies died in 2003 in India due to bacterial infections that cannot be treated by antibiotics. Microbiologists in Telengana studying the spread of bacteria in hospitals found that 6.7% of bacteria were resistant to all antibiotics.

According to Laxminarayan, India has the highest rate of antibiotic resistance in the world! We don’t have regulations that govern the use of antibiotics in livestock and antibiotics can easily be procured without prescriptions, making it hard to control their use.
