India’s pulses production has risen to 274.09 lakh metric tonnes in 2025–26, up from 256.83 lakh metric tonnes in 2024–25. ICAR’s research, improved varieties and farmer-focused technologies are contributing to higher productivity and strengthening India’s journey towards self-reliance in pulses.

भारत में दलहन उत्पादन 2025–26 में बढ़कर 274.09 लाख मीट्रिक टन हो गया है, जो 2024–25 के 256.83 लाख मीट्रिक टन से अधिक है। 🌱 ICAR के अनुसंधान, उन्नत किस्मों और किसान-केंद्रित तकनीकों से उत्पादकता बढ़ाने और दलहन में आत्मनिर्भरता को मजबूत करने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान मिल रहा है।

📢 IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION | WALK-IN INTERVIEW RESCHEDULED

ICAR–National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (ICAR-NIHSAD), Bhopal hereby informs all concerned candidates that the Walk-in Interview scheduled for 28 August 2026 has been postponed due to Rakshabandhan and rescheduled to 01 September 2026.

Dr M. L. Jat Felicitates Scientists Behind India’s First Indigenous ASF Vaccine

A major milestone in animal health security! Scientists at ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal, have developed India’s first indigenous MA-104 cell-based live attenuated vaccine against African Swine Fever (ASF).

The breakthrough strengthens India’s self-reliance in veterinary vaccine development and offers new hope for protecting the pig farming sector. The team—Drs. D. Senthil Kumar, K. Rajukumar, G. Venkatesh, Fateh Singh, and Aniket Sanyal—was felicitated by Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) & DG, ICAR, for this notable achievement.

Dr. Jat commended the scientists for their outstanding contribution, stating that the development marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s preparedness against ASF and advancing the country’s vision of self-reliance in animal health and veterinary vaccine production.

Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), along with the Assistant Director General (Animal Health) and Director, ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal, was also present on the occasion.

🏆 A Proud Moment for ICAR-NIHSAD!

The team of scientists from ICAR–National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (ICAR-NIHSAD), Bhopal, along with the Director, received a Letter of Appreciation from the Director General, ICAR, at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, in recognition of their significant achievement in developing the MA-104 cell-adapted live attenuated vaccine against African Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs.

This important indigenous breakthrough represents a major milestone in India’s efforts to combat ASF—one of the most devastating diseases affecting the pig industry—and reflects the dedication, scientific excellence and sustained teamwork of ICAR-NIHSAD scientists.

👏 Congratulations to the entire team for this remarkable achievement and contribution towards strengthening animal health and disease preparedness in the country!
