I, Abhishek Mishra, CEO of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF), had the privilege of a brief yet deeply enriching meeting with Dr. Prashant Narnaware, I.A.S., currently serving as the Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, at the Raj Bhawan, Mumbai.
The meeting revolved around the strategic growth and future vision of DPIFF — India’s Most Prestigious Award Ceremony & Film Festival — and the ways in which it continues to promote Indian cinema, cultural heritage, tourism and national pride on a global platform.
Dr. Prashant Narnaware, I.A.S., a 2009-batch officer of the Maharashtra cadre, is a highly respected figure in Indian administration. Known for his visionary leadership and grassroots-driven governance, he has served in pivotal roles such as District Collector of Palghar and Osmanabad, Commissioner of Social Welfare, and Commissioner of Women and Child Development. His initiatives in public service, social justice, and technology-enabled governance have garnered national recognition.
Our conversation was not only constructive but also a testament to the growing acknowledgment of cinema as a powerful medium for nation-building and cultural diplomacy. The support and encouragement extended by Dr. Narnaware reaffirm the commitment of public institutions towards the arts and creative industry.
We look forward to a meaningful collaboration in line with the shared goal of making Indian cinema resonate across the world, with dignity, diversity, and depth.
