BOOK LAUNCH: NANDINI SATPATHY, THE IRON LADY OF ODISHA
On behalf of Bakul Foundation, I would like to invite you to the launch of the biography of Nandini Satpathy, the first and only woman Chief Minister of Odisha at the Bakul Library, 16 Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar on 11 May, Saturday at 6PM.
The author, Pallavi Kamakshi Rebbapragada will be there to interact with the audience and to sign copies of the book. Pallavi Rebbapragada is an eminent journalist and public policy consultant, who has been a Features Editor with Forbes and The New Indian Express and has also written for India Today and First Post.
Nandini Satpathy has been an iconic figure in Odisha but little has been known about her. Very few people know about the little daredevil of 15 years, who had pulled down the Union Jack atop Ravenshaw College or that as Chief Minister of Odisha, and a close friend of Indira Gandhi, with whom she was often compared, she opposed the Emergency and was therefore dismissed from the CM’s position.
The story of Nandini Satpathy, the first and only woman Chief Minister of Odisha, who had become a Rajya Sabha MP at the age of 31 and had led the Information War with Pakistan during the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, can now be known through her biography by Pallavi Rebbapragada that has been published by Simon & Schuster IN, one of the leading publishing houses in the world.
