A high-level Review Meeting on Odisha Skills was held with the participation of Hon’ble Minister, Skill Development & Technical Education (SD&TE), Shri Sampad Chandra Swain; Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Shri Bhupendra Singh Poonia; CEO, World Skill Center (WSC), Shri Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra; and Special Secretary to the SD&TE cm COO, WSC, Santoshi Sahoo.

The meeting focused on key priorities for strengthening Odisha’s skilling ecosystem, including:

- Preparatory review for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026
- Registration status of OdishaSkills 2026–27
- Roadmap and strategic priorities for OdishaSkills 2026–27
- Way forward for strengthening skills development and performance

The discussions reaffirmed the vision of making skilling aspirational, enabling global-level performance, benchmarking skills against international standards, and creating role models who inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.

With a strong focus on excellence, global competitiveness and opportunities, Odisha continues to move towards becoming a leading hub for world-class skills and talent.

World Skill Center, Bhubaneswar, welcomed 25 foreign participants from the Know India Programme on a visit to the Center. The delegation toured WSC’s advanced training laboratories and gained insights into Odisha’s skill development ecosystem, industry-oriented training practices and advanced skilling infrastructure.

The participants also interacted with WSC’s students and trainers, gaining an understanding of the learning environment and opportunities available through advanced skill training.

During the visit, the delegation met Shri Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, CEO, World Skill Center; Dr. Subhanga Kishore Das, Principal, World Skill Center; and senior management officials of WSC. The interactions provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on skill development, training practices and workforce preparedness.

The visit reflects the growing scope for international exposure, knowledge exchange and collaboration in skill development, while showcasing Odisha’s efforts towards building a future-ready and globally competent workforce.

World Skill Center, Bhubaneswar, organised an Industrial Talk on “Smart Manufacturing Industrial Applications” for trainees of the Mechatronics Department.

The session was led by Mr. Aravind Ramachandran, Head – Didactics, Janatics India Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable industry insights on Smart Factories, Digital Twin technologies and their applications in modern manufacturing.

The interaction provided trainees with an opportunity to understand emerging technologies, industry practices and the evolving requirements of smart and digitally enabled manufacturing environments.

Such industry-led sessions at WSC strengthen industry–academia linkages and help trainees develop the knowledge and competencies required for a future-ready manufacturing workforce.
