Smt. Sima Juanga who was undergoing treatment in Chennai after the ammonia gas leak incident at Thiruvallur, has been discharged from hospital.
Today evening she safely reached Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar along with her mother and husband.
She has been sent to Kendujhar in a specially arranged AC vehicle under the supervision of Labour Department officials.
With her safe return, all 85 workers have returned to their native villages.
We thank everyone involved in the safe return of all workers related to the Ammonia related accident at Thiruvallur.🙏

A One Day Training Program was organized today i.e on 31st July, 2026 to enhance the skills of officials in governance and public service delivery.
The training session was inaugurated by Sri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Odisha & Director, State Labour Institute, Odisha with an introduction to Training objectives.Sri Sribhusan Sukla, Former CGM, OSDMA, Bhubaneswar, Sri Prafulla Kumar Swain, Director, Public Grievance and Prof. Manmath Kundu, Bhubaneswar were present as the resource persons.
The sessions included Noting, Drafting and Official Procedure, Janasunani, Public Grievance Redressal System & CPGRAM and Effective use of English language in official noting, drafting.
The program concluded with a Wrap-up Session and Key Takeaways.
The training aimed to strengthen efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric service in the department.

The mortal remains of the late Sushanta Kumar Naik of Laigaon, Rambhikata, Harbhanga, Boudh, arrived at his native village on 27th July 2026 at 3:00 am from the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu by the joint efforts of the District Administration and the District Labour Machinery of Boudh. The remains were handed over to his family members to perform the last rites.

Padmini Juanga, who was receiving treatment in Chennai after the ammonia gas leak incident at Thiruvallur, was discharged on 24.07.2026.
To ensure her comfort, she, along with her mother and brother, was brought to Bhubaneswar by air. Officials from the Labour Department accompanied and received her at the airport and sent to her native by a specially arranged vehicle.
With the rescue and return of Padmini Juanga, a total of 84 Odia workers have been rescued and reached their native places from the above incident so far. One worker is still under treatment in Chennai.

The Office of Divisional Labour Commissioner, Nuapada and Superintendent of Police, Nuapada jointly organised a hybrid session on Role of Police Officials in Child Labour Raid, Rescue and Rehabilitation at the Conference Hall, District Police Office, Nuapada today at 12 PM.
The panellists included Sri Amritpal Singh, SP Nuapada, Sri Rabindra Barla, DLC, Sri Dibya Shankar Dhurua, DLO, Ms Suchismita Mahauty, DCPO I/C, Ms. Babita Mishra, Chairperson, CWC, Sri Nikhil Agrawal, ALO Sinapali and Mershy Purty, SJPU and Dr. Fanindam Singh Deo.
Dr. Fanindam Singh Deo former chairperson CWC, NPD was the key resource person for the session.
All the IICs and officials of all the Police Stations of Nuapada districts joined the session virtually.
The Session started with introduction by ALO, Sinaplai and then SP, Nuapada gave his welcome remarks and spoke on how child labour attacks the dignity of a child.
DCPO spoke about the role of DCPU in protecting child rights which was followed by DLC & DLO who discussed the CLA(P&R) Act and the role of Police as per the state action plan.
ThenChairperson, CWC discussed about the role of CWC in rehabilitation of the rescued child labour and the problems which they usually face during rehabilitation. Case studies and best practices was also discussed in the session. The event ended with the vote of thanks by SJPU.
The members emphasized for better coordination and convergence among different departments in order to ensure a Child Labour Free Nuapada and Child Labour Free Odisha. Everybody appreciated the effort and found the session to be extremely fruitful.

Mr Akshaya Kumar Jena and Mr Yudhishthir Jena, two interstate migrant workmen from Radhavallabhpur village in the Basudevpur block of Bhadrak district, were working in a spinning mill in Tamil Nadu. They were critically injured in a severe road accident and admitted to a nearby hospital in Gandhigram, Telupatti, Tamil Nadu. While undergoing treatment, both passed away on the same day at 11:35 pm. At the request of their family members to bring their mortal remains back to their native village, the District Labour Machinery of Bhadrak actively coordinated the process. The mortal remains were brought back to their native place and handed over to their families.

A one-day training program on 'Financial Management' was organized by the State Labour Institute, Odisha for the DDOs and concerned Dealing Assistants of all the Labour districts.
This training was conducted in two phases on 20th and 21st July, 2026. The training was aimed to get the officers acquainted about the procedures and modalities relating to financial matters.
The training session was inaugurated by Sri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Odisha & Director, State Labour Institute, Odisha.

A comprehensive review of Labour Directorate activities was conducted today i.e on 22nd July, 2026 under the chairmanship of Sri Dodda Venkata Swami, IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt., Labour & ESI Department.
Discussions focused on ongoing welfare schemes, enforcement, and service delivery to workers across the state. The key activities of the Directorate, achievement and implementation status were reviewed during the meeting. Sri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Odisha along with other officers of the Directorate were present in the meeting.
The Annual Activities Report of the Labour Directorate was inaugurated in the meeting by the Principal Secretary, Labour & ESI Department.
The report highlights key achievements, welfare initiatives, and targets for the year.

An awareness camp was held at Rangamatia village, within the Talapada Gram Panchayat of Telkoi Block, by the District Labour Machinery of Kendujhar. Around 30 Building and Other Construction (BOC) workers, unorganized labourers, and migrant workers from the Juanga community attended the camp. Ramakanta Juanga, a representative of the Juang Development Agency (JDA), was also present. The participants were made aware about :BOC workers' registration and social security benefits. Odisha Unorganized Workers' Social Security Board (OUWSSB) registration and benefits. Child labour prevention and the eradication of human trafficking. Gram Panchayat-level voluntary registration for migrant workers and provisions of Inter-State Migrant Workmen (ISMW) Act.
