Today on 1st May the APHLC No. 21 Borjan Constituency organise jhum cultivation programme at no. 2 Kania Bey village under Borjan Constituency on the Occasion of "International Labour's Day" which celebrate annually on MAY 1st. In karbi we called it "Aru Ritnong Chingdi" for Jhum/Shifting Cultivation.

Jhum cultivation, or shifting agriculture, is a traditional farming method used by tribal communities in India's hilly Northeast, characterized by clearing forestland by cutting and burning vegetation. After planting crops for a few years, the land is abandoned to restore fertility. It is often called "slash and burn" and involves shifting to a new plot.
