ASSAM–MEGHALAYA BORDER ISSUE: CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS RAISE SERIOUS QUESTIONS

The people living in the border areas deserve clarity, transparency, and a permanent solution—not conflicting narratives.

While the Hon'ble CEM of KAAC, Shri Tuliram Ronghang, reportedly stated that the border issue concerning Kachingvai has already reached a permanent solution, the recent press briefing by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sniawbhalang Dhar suggests that discussions on the inter-state border issue remain ongoing, describing it as another significant chapter in the process.

This contradiction raises important questions:

❓ Has the border issue been permanently resolved?
❓ Or are negotiations and discussions still continuing?

The people of Kachingvai and other affected border villages have long faced uncertainty regarding land, seasonal cultivation, and administrative jurisdiction. They deserve truthful and consistent information from all concerned authorities.

A permanent solution must protect the rights, livelihoods, and interests of the indigenous people living in these areas.

Had the Alliance candidate or the APHLC candidate emerged victorious in the 2026 Assam MLA Election, this situation would never have unfolded. The controversial bill would have faced firm resistance and uncompromising opposition on the floor of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

The voice, rights, and interests of the people would have been defended — not silently surrendered.
