Says District Administration focused on sports infrastructure creation to nurture sposts culture among youths in the District

Budgam, Sep 05: The Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today attended the grand finale of the Sukhnag Premier League (SPL) at Sail, Beerwah.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that sports play a vital role in channelizing the energy and potential of youth in a positive direction.
He emphasized the need to further strengthen the sports culture in the district by providing young players with better opportunities, coaching and sporting facilities.
“Our focus is to create a strong sports ecosystem in Budgam where every young person gets an opportunity to play, compete and excel. Sporting events like the Sukhnag Premier League are important in nurturing talent and promoting discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among youth,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner asserted on prodviding improved sports infrastructure for the youth at the local sports field.
“Our endeavour is to create quality sports infrastructure across the district so that our youth can pursue their sporting ambitions in a better environment,” he added.
He also lauded the enthusiastic participation of the youth and the community in making the event a success.
The organizers expressed gtheirude to the District Administration for its support in making the Sukhnag Premier League a successful sporting event.
The league also featured prominent Ranji Trophy players, including Jahangir Lone, Imtiyaz Lefty, Waseem Kachru and Irfan Mir.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam conducts Block Diwas in remote block of Khag

Says district administration committed to robust development of the far flung areas

BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 03, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a Block Diwas programme at the Block Headquarters Khag to take stock of public issues, demands and progress of developmental works.

During the programme, locals of Khag Block and adjoining villages raised various demands related to road, power, drinking water, healthcare improvements and sports infrastructure development in the area.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the people and directed the concerned officers to address the issues raised on priority and ensure time-bound redressal of genuine grievances.

The public also projected the need for playfields in far-flung areas of Khag. The Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration is committed to establishing playfields in far-flung areas of the block to provide better sports facilities and opportunities to local youth.

He said that the District Administration is committed to robust development of far flung areas and ensure equitable development of people living in remote areas.

He stressed upon officers to maintain close coordination, expedite ongoing developmental works and ensure effective implementation of government schemes for the benefit of the people.

Senior district and sectoral officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the programme and listened to the public issues for necessary action.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam reviews parcel train service operation for seamless apple transportation

Budgam, September 2: The Deputy CommissionerBudgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a key coordination meeting to review operation of parcel train service for seamless apple transportation at Railway Station Budgam.
The meeting focused on facilitating and optimizing parcel train services for the efficient transportation of locally produced apples to markets across the country.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of establishing a seamless supply chain mechanism for fruit growers in the district, ensuring their produce reaches nationwide markets swiftly, cost-effectively, and with minimal transit damage.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner said this train service would give a major push to bolster the local agricultural and horticultural economy.
He instructed the Horticulture Department and Railway Authorities to work in close coordination, create awareness among local farmers and traders regarding railway parcel rates, and ensure smooth operational support at Budgam Railway Station.
The discussion centered on resolving logistical bottlenecks, enhancing loading facilities at the station, and establishing cold-chain connectivity to streamline parcel shipments during the peak harvest season.
The meeting was attended by, Chief Area Manager of Railways, Budgam, Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam, all Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs) of the district, Assistant Grading and Marketing Officers of Chadoora and Beerwah, and other concerned.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam visits University of Jammu Campus at Rakh Arth Bemina

Stresses on speedy work ex*****on on the vital project

Budgam, September 02: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today conducted a comprehensive site visit to Rakh Arth, Bemina, to inspect the ongoing infrastructure development works for the proposed Kashmir Campus of the University of Jammu.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of various key works sanctioned for the site.
The works include construction of a boundary wall and protective fencing around the designated land to secure the campus site; construction of the main approach road to ensure connectivity with the campus and prefabricated structures; and er****on of a prefabricated unit comprising a mini-office and Chowkidar room to facilitate preliminary site management and administrative operations.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring strict adherence to the prescribed timelines. He directed the executing agencies to expedite the remaining works and ensure timely completion for providing seamless accessibility and security to the proposed academic and research facility.
He said that the establishment of the University of Jammu’s Kashmir Campus at Rakh Arth, Budgam, would strengthen higher education infrastructure and promote academic and research opportunities in the region.
Senior officers of the District Administration, including the Executive Engineer R&B, Assistant Executive Engineer R&B and representatives of the executing agencies, accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection.
