যাদবপুর স্টেশনে আশেপাশের সমস্ত দোকান (এমনকি বাড়িও) ভেঙে গুঁড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে।
কাল রাতের অন্ধকারে একদিকে কলকাতা পুলিশ, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পুলিশ, অন্যদিকে CAPF, CRPF, RAF, RPF মিলে যাদবপুর স্টেশনের হকারদের উচ্ছেদ করতে যায়।
জনগণ তাদের ঢুকতে বাধা দেয়। কিন্তু পুলিশ ও সেনা তখন জনগণকে ঘিরে ফেলে লাঠি চার্জ করতে শুরু করে। বাচ্চা, মহিলারাও ছিল। প্রত্যেককে লাঠিচার্জ, মারধর করা হয়। অনেকের মাথা ফেটে গেছে। অনেকে আশঙ্কাজনক ভাবে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি। অনেকে গ্রেফতার।
মানেটা কী দাঁড়াচ্ছে? সরকার নিজে রোজকারের ব্যবস্থা করতে পারছে না। কারকে সৎভাবে নিজের উদ্যোগে রোজকারের চেষ্টাও করতে দিচ্ছে না। এতে কার লাভ?
★ ভোটের আগে জনদরদীর নাটক করা সরকার কেন হকারদের পুনর্বাসন দিচ্ছে না?
★ কেন এতদিন হকারদের রেজিস্টার করা হয়নি?
★ নতুন সরকার কেন ব্যবস্থা নিচ্ছে না রেজিস্টার করার?
★ উল্টে কেন গায়ের জোরে, সেনা পুলিশের ভয় দেখিয়ে মানুষকে তাড়ানো হচ্ছে?
গণতন্ত্রে বলে প্রত্যেক মানুষের সৎভাবে বাঁচার ও জীবিকা নির্বাহের অধিকার আছে। সরকার কি সেই অধিকারটা কেড়ে নিচ্ছে না?
পুনশ্চ : পুলিশ আগেরবার বলেছিল এর মধ্যে ওখানে উচ্ছেদ হবে না। কিন্তু এই সরকার যে দুমুখো, তা প্রত্যেকবার দায়িত্ত্ব নিয়ে প্রমাণ করছে।
All the shops (and even homes) surrounding Jadavpur Station have been demolished.
Under the cover of darkness last night, a combined force—comprising Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police alongside CAPF, CRPF, RAF, and RPF—moved in to evict the hawkers at Jadavpur Station.
The public tried to block their entry. However, the police and security forces surrounded the crowd and began a lathi-charge. Children and women were present, yet everyone was subjected to baton charges and beatings. Many suffered head injuries; several have been hospitalized in critical condition, and many others have been arrested.
What does this imply? The government is unable to provide employment opportunities itself, yet it also prevents individuals from honestly trying to earn a living through their own initiative. Who stands to gain from this?
★ Why is the government—which staged a 'pro-people' act before the elections—failing to provide rehabilitation for the hawkers?
★ Why haven't the hawkers been registered all this time?
★ Why isn't the new government taking steps to register them?
★ Instead, why are people being driven away through brute force and intimidation by security forces?
Democracy dictates that every individual has the right to live honestly and earn a livelihood. Is the government not stripping them of that very right?
P.S.: The police had previously stated that no eviction would take place there. Yet, this government consistently proves its duplicity through its actions.
