Achieving some milestones is always inspiring and it revitalise us to work harder to achieve more goals. This time it is double treat for the team. Completed 50 Neuter and Spay Surgeries with two dogs brought by our new volunteers from Dera Bassi town about 30 km from Chandigarh. Miles to go....

After recovering from COVID, the team is on the go and advancing for the accomplishment of 50 Spay and Neuter surgeries till the end of this month. Envisioning to realize many more targets in the future !!!!

VOLUNTEER PARTNERS: Our Backbone

Volunteers are the helping hands that work unconditionally and do not expect any benefits, returns, or gains in return. They are incredibly valuable for any organization, particularly for those involved in the Social Service, as they not only devote their valuable time but also share their experiences and extend financial help, too.

We are fortunate that while running our program, we have come across many impassioned individuals already working for the cause. Being on the same wavelength, they immediately connected to our team to facilitate us in our program. We too are glad to provide them the platform to grow the impact of their empathetic but challenging work. Our volunteers are from diverse backgrounds and are working with us on a part-time basis. So, they are backing us by sharing their experiences, devoting time, and even extending the financial help for running our program successfully. They are engaged in picking up the strays, caring for the animals after surgery, leaving them back to their habitat areas, and so on. Additionally, they bear full or part of the expenses of the surgery, vaccination, medicines, food, and clothes, etc.

Slowly they are becoming the mainstay of our program. Not only this, but they also spread the word and encourage other people around to take part in the program and amount to something in the society.
Thank you! If we work together with this dedication, I am sure we will take our program to greater heights !!!

THE ANIMAL TRANSPORTER AND FACILITATOR: Sheena Dog Kennel

Sheena Dog Kennel, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, being run by the passionate animal lover Mr. Vinod Kumar (fondly known as Sonu) has been aiding all kinds of pets as well as stray animals (dogs, cats, iguanas, squirrels, bantams/chicks, birds, rabbits, hamsters, gin pigs, mice/rats, etc) for more than 25 years and is the President of the Pet Lovers Association. Besides his basic business of sale and purchase of the animals and their products/accessories as well as training and grooming them, he has also been putting a lot of effort into stray and wild animals welfare services like feeding them, serving them water in summers, donating coats in winters, rescuing and getting the injured dogs treated as well as their sterilization. He continued these services even in the lockdown period. Not only this, but he is also promulgating among the society for serving the animals and is raising many issues for their welfare at various platforms from time to time. For his love for animals and commendable job for their welfare, he has been accolated with a number of honors and commendations by the Government, Chandigarh Administration and many other organizations. To encourage and facilitate him for promoting his animal welfare services, the Chandigarh Administration has gifted him an Animal Ambulance, which he has offered me free of cost for transport of the stray dogs before and after their surgeries and treatment under my . Besides this, Sheena Dog Kennel has been providing us food and other accessories as well as the boarding facilities, as and when required for our patients.

THE TREATMENT AND SURGICAL CENTRE: Committed to Excellence in Care for the Animals

- Pet Hospital.

Pet Hospital and Surgical Centre is one of the best destinations for the care of small animals in Chandigarh. Established in the year 2003, it has been curing all types of small animals of Chandigarh and its vicinity. It occupies a prominent and easily accessible location in Sector 34C, Chandigarh.
Pet Hospital is not an ordinary pet hospital, it is a one-stop destination providing all types of emergency care and routine treatments. Not only this, but it is also the neatest and cleanest clinic in the region. Working with the belief that customer satisfaction is the most important aspect, it exhibits compassion and kindness to the suffering animals and their owners/ guardians/ lovers.
Moreover, Pet Hospital has sufficient space to maintain separate rooms/ cabins for OPD, operation theatre, labs, after-care treatment room and radiology room, etc. It is also provided with the modern and latest equipment like an X-ray machine, IDEXX- the world’s best blood sampling machine, anesthesia machine, etc. for diagnosing, treating and operating on the patients.

Committed to excellence in small animal care, the Pet Hospital looks after the health and well-being of not only the pet animals but also helps our street friends live their life to the fullest, as they also deserve the finest veterinary care. By treating the homeless animals, it helps in preventing diseases and injuries not only in animals but also in humans. In addition, it works towards controlling the stray population, thus improving the community well-being in the region.
Over the course of its journey, Pet Hospital has treated and operated on 1000s of small animals. To contribute to my program, the Pet Hospital has agreed for conducting Animal Birth Control surgeries on both, male and female stray dogs, treating the injured strays and vaccinating them after surgery or otherwise at no profit no-cost basis. In my program, it will mainly cover the Sterilisation of the Stray Dogs, Anti Rabies Vaccination of the Stray Dogs, Treatment of Sick and Injured Stray Dogs. The hospital has conducted almost 15 spaying and neutering surgeries and post-operative care.
Thank you Pet Hospital for bringing smiles to the faces of our destitute friends and their owners/ guardians/ lovers. Hoping for many more in the future!!!

THE HEAD SURGEON: My Inspiration; My Mentor; My Dad – Dr. J.S. Nijjer

My father, Dr. J.S. Nijjer, is a Veterinary Surgeon by profession. He possesses the qualification of Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (BVSC & AH) and Masters in Veterinary Sciences (Veterinary Surgery and Radiology). In the last twenty years, he has treated, vaccinated and operated on 1000s of dogs and other animals including our street friends. I have always been impressed by his hard work as well as devotion to his profession and compassionate service for these speechless souls. Not only this, but he has also always extended his helping hand for serving deprived stray dogs with empathy and without any financial interests. As I already mentioned that his selfless approach has inspired me to perceive this project. In addition, he also guided me to run the same and helped me in connecting the various stakeholders.
I also invite you all to share the word with everyone related to such community service, to enable them to get the maximum benefit from this program.

Hello everyone,

I am Mehar Nijjer, a student of class 11 of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Since my childhood, I was intrigued to work for the welfare of our homeless friends, which developed on seeing many philanthropic volunteers and my father, who is a veterinarian, serving these speechless souls by treating, operating and vaccinating them without expecting any returns. After recognizing my keenness in this social service, my father mentored me in approaching various volunteers and other stakeholders for seeking their respected services. Finally, with the helping hands of all my partners, I gather the courage to set this program in motion.

This is Mehar Nijjer and I am delighted to share with you all that I have started a stray dogs welfare program under the title “Mehar Nijjer’s Protecting the Paws Program” with user name .PPP. This program is aimed to cover Sterilisation of Stray Dogs, Anti Rabies Vaccination of Stray Dogs and Treatment of Sick & Injured Stray Dogs.
I seek the help of all the dog lovers and volunteers for stray dogs by connecting to my program. Therefore, I urge you all to extend your helping hand in this virtuous cause and spread the word, so that a greater number of volunteers can contact us, so as to enable me to contribute something good in the lives of the residents as well as our destitute friends in the city and strengthen the bond of love with our best friends.
