Estate Office is the oldest office of Chandigarh Administration with its individual working system. This being a major revenue earning office of the Administration has been performing the multifarious activities of the enforcement of Bye-Laws and Rules framed under the various Act and Schemes of the Chandigarh Administration for the welfare of the general public. The main functions of the Estate O
ffice are to sell Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Religious plots by allotment or Auction to people, institutions, Government Departments and maintain their records. Mostly, the allotment of plots on freehold basis was carried out prior to year 1973 and after Chandigarh Leasehold of Sites and Building Rules, 1973 came into existence and allotment or auction of the sites were made as per this Rule. residential, commercial and industrial were being auctioned or allotted on 99 years leasehold basis. However, from 2001 residential plots are being sold by auction on freehold basis.
