irloskar Intergrated Technologies (this should have a hyperlink to their website) as the technology partners. The founding of SAVPL was motivated by the plight of the farmers in South West Punjab. There is over 2 lakh hectares of Waterlogged wastelands in the Malwa belt of Punjab. After years of research sponsored by Mr Sanjeev Nagpal, the concept, which is taking shape in the form of SAVPL, was developed. SAVPL, with Kirloskar Integrated Technologies Limited as the technology partner, has set up a Paddy Straw based Bio Gas plant. Paddy Straw is currently burned on the fields after the harvesting of Paddy (rice crop) is complete. For every ton of Paddy Straw burned, 1-1.5 tons of Carbon Dioxide is released in the atmosphere, accompanied by numerous other pollutants. In order to manufacture Bio-Gas from Paddy Straw, SAVPL will continuously withdraw water from a specific waterlogged area. Thus, we the company aims to tackle two of the biggest environmental hazards in Punjab. It will cut down on the carbon emissions through the prevention of the burning of Paddy Straw, and it will provide a permanent outflow for the waterlogging, allowing the surrounding land to become fertile again. After the generation of Bio-Gas, Paddy Straw will come out in the form of a slurry. This compost will be an organic substitute of DAP.
