ਜਲੰਧਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਰੋਸ ਮੁਜ਼ਾਹਰਾ: ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਮਾਰਚ 📢🌾
ਜਲੰਧਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਜ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ, ਨੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਉਤਰ ਕੇ ਰੋਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ। 'ਪੇਂਡੂ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਮੋਰਚੇ' ਦੇ ਬੈਨਰ ਹੇਠ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਰੈਲੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਟਕਦੀਆਂ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
✊ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਗਾਂ:

* ਮਨਰੇਗਾ (MGNREGS) ਬਹਾਲ ਕਰੋ: "ਬੀਜੀ ਰਾਮਜੀ" ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਰੇਗਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਹਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
* ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੀ ਦੀ ਗਾਰੰਟੀ: ਮਨਰੇਗਾ ਤਹਿਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਲ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿਹਾੜੀ ₹700 ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
* ਪੈਨਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ: ਬੁਢਾਪਾ, ਵਿਧਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਹੀਣ ਪੈਨਸ਼ਨ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ₹5,000 ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
* ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ: ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਢੇ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਰੁਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ।
* ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਪਲਾਟ: ਹਰ ਬੇਜ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਨੂੰ 10-10 ਮਰਲੇ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਪਲਾਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ।
* ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ: ਬੇਜ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਕਾਇਆ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ।
* ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਸੁਧਾਰ: ਲੈਂਡ ਸੀਲਿੰਗ ਐਕਟ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਧੂ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਬੇਜ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
* ਪੰਚਾਇਤੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ: ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ (ਪੰਚਾਇਤੀ) ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦਾ ਤੀਜਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬੇਜ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ।

MASSIVE PROTEST IN JALANDHAR: Thousands of Rural Workers March to CM's Residence 📢🌾
Thousands of landless rural workers, including a large number of women, took to the streets of Jalandhar yesterday. Under the banner of the Joint Front of Rural and Agricultural Labour Organisations, protesters held a massive rally at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall before marching toward Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's official residence.
The workers are demanding immediate government action on long-standing economic and social issues.
✊ Key Demands of the Workers:

* Restore MGNREGS: Repeal the "BG Ramji" law and fully restore the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
* Guaranteed Wages: Ensure year-round employment under MGNREGS with a minimum daily wage of ₹700.
* Higher Pensions: Increase monthly old-age, widow, and disability pensions to ₹5,000.
* Pending Financial Aid: Immediately credit the financial assistance promised to women over the past four-and-a-half years.
* Housing Rights: Allot 10-marla residential plots to every landless rural labourer.
* Debt Relief: Fully waive all outstanding debts of landless labourers.
* Land Reforms: Strictly implement the Land Ceiling Act and distribute surplus land to landless workers and marginal farmers.
* Panchayat Land Allocation: Ensure one-third of village common (panchayat) land is allotted to landless labourers as legally mandated.

ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੁਣ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨਾਅਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬਣਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ!

🚩 ਸੀ.ਪੀ.ਆਈ.(ਐਮ.) ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੱਦਾ।

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ.ਪੀ.ਆਈ.(ਐਮ.) ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ 2ਅਤੇ 3 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਈ ਦੋ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਤਮਕ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਲਏ ਗਏ।

ਰਾਜ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ 10 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇਸ਼-ਵਿਆਪੀ "ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਭਰੋ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ" ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਨੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੀਤਾਰਾਮ ਯੇਚੂਰੀ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।

ਰਾਜ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਟਰੇਡ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ, ਕਿਸਾਨ, ਖੇਤ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਨ-ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ, ਅਗਸਤ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਫੰਡ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਚਲਾਉਣ, ਹੜ੍ਹ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਤਮਕ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਡਿਜ਼ੀਟਲ ਯੁੱਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪਾਂ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
CPI(M) Punjab State Committee Calls for Intensifying People's Struggles

At its two-day meeting held in Chandigarh on August 2–3, the Punjab State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) reviewed the country's political situation, developments in Punjab, and the Party's organisational work, and adopted several important decisions for the coming period.

The State Committee called upon Party units and mass organisations to participate with full strength in the nationwide "Jail Bharo" (Fill the Jails) movement on August 10 against the anti-people policies of the government.

The meeting also decided to organise seminars across different regions of Punjab in memory of former General Secretary **** to popularise his ideas and carry forward his pro-people legacy among a wider audience.

The State Committee resolved to further strengthen the work of trade unions, farmers', agricultural workers' and other mass organisations. It also decided to conduct a Party fund campaign during August, mobilise relief for flood-affected people, and intensify organisational activities across the state.

Recognising the growing importance of the digital era, the Committee further decided to organise social media training workshops in every district to enhance the Party's ability to communicate its message more effectively and reach a broader section of the people.

A special commemorative programme was held at Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna Bhawan, Sector 29-D, Chandigarh on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet. A large number of Comrade Surjeet's associates, admirers and followers from across Punjab participated in the event.

Among those who paid floral tributes to Comrade Surjeet were Comrade Nilotpal Basu, Polit Bureau Member of the CPI(M) and former Rajya Sabha MP; Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, State Secretary of the CPI(M), Punjab; Pawan Bansal, former Union Minister; Balwinder Singh Bhunder, former Minister in the Punjab Government; Daljit Singh Cheema; and members of Comrade Surjeet's family, including his grandson Sonu Singh.

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਅਗਸਤ 2026 ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾਂਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 18 ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੀਤ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਲਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਾਰਨ ’ਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਪੁਸ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜਵਾਦ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਗ ’ਚ ਲੋਕ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਸਨ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜੀਵਨ ’ਚ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ’ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ, ਫਿਰ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ’ਚ ਅਤੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਉਹ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ’ਚ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕੰਮ, ਜੋ ਕਿਸਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਗਠਤ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਦੇ ਦੋ ਮੰਤਵ ਸਨ। ਇੱਕ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਲਹਿਰ ’ਚ ਕਿਸਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਗੀਰਦਾਰੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ’ਚ ਕਿਸਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਹਰਲੀਆਂ ਸਫ਼ਾਂ ’ਚ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਕਿਸਾਨ ਲਹਿਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਭਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਤ ਸੀ ਕਿ 1947 ’ਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਜਮਹੂਰੀ ਇਨਕਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਟੀਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ’ਚ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੋ ਫ਼ਿਰਕੂ ਟਕਰਾਓ ਤੇ ਭੇਦ ਭਾਵ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਮਝ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਫ਼ਿਰਕਾਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝੌਤਾਵਾਦੀ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਸਮਝ ਸੀ ਜੇਕਰ ਫ਼ਿਰਕਾਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਧਰਮ-ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤੱਥ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਮਰਾਜਵਾਦ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਹੁਕੌਮੀਅਤਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੋੜਨ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਰ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਿਰਕਾਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖਵਾਦੀ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਵੱਖਵਾਦੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੰਗ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦ-ਲੈਨਿਨਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਅਸੂਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ’ਚ ਵਡਮੁੱਲਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ। ਸਿੱਟੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਸੋਧਵਾਦੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਕੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕ ਪੈਂਤੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ। ਸੀਪੀਆਈ (ਐਮ) ਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਲਹਿਰ ਬਾਰੋੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਮਾ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਸੀ। ਜਦ ਸੋਵੀਅਤ ਸੰਘ ਟੁੱਟ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਧੱਕਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਲਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਰੋਲ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੜੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਸਮੇਂ ’ਚ ਸੰਕਟ ’ਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ’ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦ-ਲੈਨਿਨਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਡਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਮਕੈਨੀਕਲ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਠੋਸਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਕ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਦਾਅਪੇਚਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਾਹਰ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਿਰਜਣ ’ਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਨਿਪੁੰਨਤਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਦਾਅਪੇਚਕ ਲਾਈਨ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਨਿਪੁੰਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਝਲਕ 1987 ਤੋਂ 1991 ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਖੱਬੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਜਨਤਾ ਦਲ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤਰੀ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸੂਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਕਿਨਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਕੂ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਂਪਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਧਰਮ-ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਤੇ ਇੰਝ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ ’ਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਤੀਜੇ ਬਦਲ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੀਡਰ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਹ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹੀ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਅੱਸੀਵਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ’ਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਬਦਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਬਰੇਜ਼ ਸਨ। ਸਾਮਰਾਜਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ 1990ਵਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ’ਚ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਖੁਸ਼ਗਵਾਰ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ’ਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਡੋਲ ਰਹੇ। ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਵੀਅਤਨਾਮ, ਕਿਊਬਾ, ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਲਸਤੀਨ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕਮੁੱਠਤਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸਨ। ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਵੇਕਲੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕੋ ਇੱਕ ਟੀਚਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ’ਚ ਜਮਹੂਰੀ ਇਨਕਲਾਬ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਅੱਜ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ’ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਜ਼ੂਦਗੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੋ ਵਡਮੁੱਲਾ ਵਿਰਸਾ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਰਮਯੋਗੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਉਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪੇ੍ਰਰਨਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼ਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਲਈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet on His 18th Death Anniversary

On August 1, 2026, we mark the 18th death anniversary of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet, one of the foremost architects of India's communist movement. His passing marked the end of an extraordinary political life devoted to the cause of socialism, secularism, democracy, and the working people.

Comrade Surjeet's political journey—from the anti-colonial movement to the communist movement—reflected his deep ideological commitment and continuous political development. He dedicated his life to organizing the peasantry, fighting feudalism, and strengthening the democratic movement in independent India.

A steadfast Marxist, Comrade Surjeet consistently opposed communalism, separatism, and imperialist attempts to divide India. He firmly believed that only the unity of working people could safeguard the country's secular and democratic character.

As General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he provided remarkable leadership during the difficult period following the collapse of the Soviet Union. He emphasized the creative application of Marxism-Leninism to Indian conditions rather than mechanically copying foreign models.

Known for his exceptional political foresight and tactical skill, Comrade Surjeet played a key role in building broad secular and democratic alliances to isolate communal forces while maintaining the CPI(M)'s independent political line. Internationally, he stood in unwavering solidarity with the struggles of the people of Vietnam, Cuba, Palestine, and other anti-imperialist movements.

Comrade Surjeet's unwavering dedication to the Party and to the cause of socialism remains an enduring inspiration. On his 18th death anniversary, we pay our respectful tribute and reaffirm our commitment to carrying forward his ideals and strengthening the struggles for democracy, secularism, social justice, and socialism.

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਸਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ 75 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਛੱਡਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ 4,000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 50 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ 30 ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 1.5 ਲੱਖ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੇਠ ਆ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਗਾਲੈਂਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਹਾੜੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਵਹਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ ਭਾਰੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉੱਪਰੀ ਅਸਾਮ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਮਚਾਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਇਸ ਹੜ੍ਹ-ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖੀ। ਇਹ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਕਿ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਖਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਉਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਨਿਕਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਜਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਹੋਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾਜਨਕ ਹਨ।

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਅਸਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਪੈਮਾਨਾ ਅਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਰਾਹਤ ਅਤੇ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਾਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਹੋਰ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੇਠ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਹੈ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਭੋਜਨ, ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ, ਸਿਹਤ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝੇ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਸਾਮ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ-ਰੋਟੀ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਕਾਮ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ "ਹੜ੍ਹ-ਮੁਕਤ ਅਸਾਮ" ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਅਸਾਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਰਵੱਈਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਕਟ ਦੀ ਘੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ। ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਰਾਹਤ, ਬਚਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਦੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਲਗਭਗ 40 ਫ਼ੀਸਦੀ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੜ੍ਹ-ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦਾ ਸਥਾਈ ਹੱਲ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਜਾਣ।

ਪੋਲਿਟ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਘਰਾਂ, ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ, ਪਸ਼ੂਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ-ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਵੇ। ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁੜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਮੁੜ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਪੈਕੇਜ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਸੀ.ਪੀ.ਆਈ.(ਐੱਮ.) ਦੇ ਅਸਾਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਕੁਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਹਤ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਕਾਰਕੁਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹਤ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ।

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

Assam Floods: Rush Relief, Ensure Adequate Rehabilitation

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep concern over the unprecedented floods that have devastated several districts of upper Assam.

Over the last four weeks, 75 people have lost their lives and tens of thousands have been displaced in Assam. It is estimated that more than 50 lakh people in over 4,000 villages have been affected by the floods in the state. Widespread death of livestock has also been reported in the floods which have submerged more than 1.5 lakh hectares of farm lands in 30 districts.

The sudden and unprecedented amount of surge of water from the hills of Nagaland compounded by heavy rain in Assam has damaged 3 districts of upper Assam in a scale, not seen in several decades in this flood battered state. Reports indicating that illegal mining and unauthorised construction have weakened or destroyed natural drainage systems and protective barriers, thereby exacerbating the flooding, are a matter of grave concern.

While Assam has witnessed recurrent floods over the years, the magnitude of the present disaster is exceptional. The suffering of the people has been aggravated by the inadequacy of relief and rescue operations. Large parts of the affected districts remain submerged and inaccessible, leaving thousands stranded without adequate food, drinking water, healthcare and shelter. The BJP run State Government of Assam has abjectly failed in its duty of providing security to the lives and livelihoods of the people of the state. This is despite them promising during the assembly election campaign that they would ensure a ‘flood-free’ Assam.

The Union Government is displaying a complete indifference to the people of Assam by not providing adequate assistance to the state in their hour of need. The Union Government must extend all necessary assistance to the State Government to strengthen rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. With 40 per cent of the state being flood-prone, comprehensive measures should also be taken to ensure a permanent solution to the problem.

The Polit Bureau demands that adequate compensation be provided to all those affected, including the families of those who lost their lives, as well as compensation for the loss of homes, crops, livestock and livelihoods. A comprehensive rehabilitation package should be announced to enable the affected people to restore their lives with dignity.

CPI(M) cadres in Assam are already involved in relief and rehabilitation efforts. We call upon our cadres from adjoining states also to join the same.

ਕੋਲਕਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਐਸਪਲਾਨੇਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੀ.ਪੀ.ਆਈ(ਐਮ), ਐਸ.ਐਫ.ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਡੀ.ਵਾਈ.ਐਫ.ਆਈ ਦੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਸਾੜੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਕੜੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸੀਪੀਆਈ(ਐਮ) ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਬੰਗਾਲ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਕਾਮਰੇਡ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਸਲੀਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ "ਲਾਲ ਝੰਡੇ" ਤੋਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਕਾਬ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਝੰਡੇ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਦਬਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਹਰਕਤ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੇਚੈਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰੀ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
During a BJP rally at Esplanade in Kolkata, flags of the CPI(M), SFI, and DYFI were allegedly set on fire. Condemning the incident in the strongest terms, CPI(M) West Bengal State Secretary Comrade Mohammed Salim said that the act exposed the BJP's fear of the "Red Flag." He stated that burning flags cannot silence ideas or suppress the voice of people's struggles. According to him, the BJP's actions reflect its insecurity and intolerance towards democratic values.
