⚡ Industrial Field Trip to Purulia Pumped Storage Project (900 MW)
The Department of Electrical Engineering, Hooghly Institute of Technology successfully organized Two -day Industrial Field visit to the Purulia Pumped Storage Project (900 MW) on 11th and 12th March 2026 for DEE 6th semester students.
This visit gave students a rare opportunity to witness modern hydel power engineering at one of the largest pumped storage power projects in Eastern India located in Purulia.
Moving beyond classroom learning, students experienced the real-world functioning of a power plant — turning theoretical knowledge into practical understanding.
During the technical visit, students along with departmental faculty members explored four operational units, including:
🔹 Generator Room
🔹 Turbine Room
🔹 Guide Vane Gate Operation System
🔹 Transformers & Rectifiers
🔹 Control Panels and SCADA-based Control Room
The second day turned into a memorable exploration of the scenic beauty of Purulia in the spring season. Students visited the Upper & Lower Dams and enjoyed breathtaking locations such as Bamni Falls, Turga Falls, Pakhi Pahar, Marble Lake, and the spectacular bird’s-eye view from Ajodhya Hill. The visit also included the culturally rich Charida Mask Village, famous for traditional Mukhos (Chhau masks).
The excursion truly became a perfect blend of learning, exploration, and unforgettable memories for the students of Electrical Engineering.

🏫💼 Campus Interview Drive at Hooghly Institute of Technology
The Training & Placement Cell of Hooghly Institute of Technology successfully organized a Campus Interview Drive through an Online Aptitude Test conducted for recruitment for Hindalco Industries Limited (Belur unit).
Students from 6th semester DME & DEE participated .
The institute remains committed to strengthening the bridge between academia and industry through such placement initiatives.🚀

# Closing Ceremony of 75 Years Celebration | 27th February
# year-long 75 Years Celebration of Hooghly Institute of Technology concluded on 27th February with pride, joy, and cultural vibrance.
The closing ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the SDO Sir who inaugurated the programme. The event began with a colourful and spirited rally, setting the tone for a memorable evening.
The celebration started with a speech by Principal -in-charge and speech by Binoy Bhushan Halder Sir describing journeys through time — revisiting the humble beginnings and rich history, that shaped Hooghly Institute of Technology into what it is today.The occasion came alive with soulful songs, srutinatak, recitations, drama, and graceful dance performances. These heartfelt presentations were performed by teachers, family members of staff, and students, beautifully reflecting the unity and cultural spirit of the institute.
This closing ceremony marked not just the conclusion of a year-long celebration, but a tribute to 75 glorious years of legacy, dedication, and excellence. The memories created will continue to inspire generations to come.
