In Village side, 80% to 90% of parents are not bothered to either ask their children what they have learnt in the School nor ask the teachers what they have taught to their children. Because of this as well as there are various other reasons and poor control by the Education System, the quality & dedication of teaching has drastically come down in Rural schools. Hence we had a meeting with all the teachers in Primary & High School to understand the problems and how to address them.

To check the basic knowledge level of the students, we conducted a basic test (writing Kannada & English alphabets!!) for 4th Std to 8th Std class. We are surprised to see that 80% of students doesn't even know reading and writing of Kannada alphabets. Can you imagine a 7th or 8th or 10th Std student doesn't know how to write his own name or his father name, which shows the quality of education in Govt Schools. This is not only this village, but sadly it is similar situation in all most all the Govt Schools in Rural area. There are hardly very few Teachers who are very dedicated to provide quality of education to the students, but one or two teachers can't change the system.

This is really very sad situation and some of the Schools / Education system / few teachers are producing 80 to 90% uneducated students to our society. But in documents/paper, they are all well educated and cleared all the exams....

So we have decided to teach basic Kannada & English alphabets to the students first to make them comfortable in reading and writing the Kannada & English.

We arranged a meeting with Students and Parents to address 2 points.

1. Sending the children to School and Tutions regularly.
2. Keeping the School Rooms clean as part of "Swatch Bharath Abhiyaan"

In this meeting there was a good response from the villagers and participated in huge numbers. We emphasized the importance of education, which can be attained only by sending their wards to School and Tutions without fail whether it is girl or boy. Since 2 decades there was no Tutions concept in the Konasagara Village. Because of poor quality education in Govt School we are providing Tutions for more than 150 students free of cost and we are providing note books and pencils for free. Now the students are showing interest in studies and started coming to Tutions regularly.

As part of Swatch Bharath Abhiyaan, we provided dust bins to all the class rooms in the School and educated them about the about the importance of cleanliness & how to keep the surroundings clean.

We also distributed note books and pens to all the students.
