On September 2nd, our team was on the ground across neighborhoods in Telungupalayam, vaccinating over 50 community animals to keep them healthy and protected.
This drive is part of the month-long ErDoMeRa 2026 campaign by Harit by HCLFoundation, bringing us one step closer to a rabies-free Coimbatore. ❤️

Let’s break down the myths about rabies before it’s too late. 🛑
Rabies isn’t just a “street dog issue”. It can spread through bats, monkeys, foxes, and even unvaccinated household pets.
Transmission goes beyond bites; direct contact like scratches or saliva on an open wound can carry the risk. Plus, rabid animals aren’t always foaming at the mouth. Unusual quietness or sudden lethargy can be major warning signs, too.

Life dealt him a tough card when a severe accident cost him his front leg, but Bruce refused to let it steal his joy. He took his recovery in stride and embraced a whole new rhythm with incredible grace. Today, he’s happily showing off his silly, adorable , tri-pawd style! 🐾✨

Our team continues its relentless pursuit of a rabies-free Coimbatore, combining rapid field response with vital community outreach. Here’s what August looked like:

🌟 25 post-mortems conducted
🌟 11 tested positive (LFA)

Meet our Volunteer of the Month — Mohammed Mohseen Shaik! 💛
“Volunteering at the Humane Animal Society gave me a real, close-up understanding of what animal welfare work actually involves. I helped feed animals with special needs, assisted doctors during basic treatment, and spent time with dogs recovering from injury, illness, or past mistreatment. Not everything went smoothly — I was bitten once while feeding, a reminder of how important it is to understand an animal’s behavior and follow instructions carefully. Over time, I saw how much patience and consistency this kind of work demands, and how something as simple as a daily meal or a calm presence can matter to an animal’s recovery. It was a practical, grounding experience that taught me a lot about responsibility and care.”
Shaik has always been kind and reliable. He formed such a close bond with the animals and we couldn’t ask for a better teammate.

🐾 Stronger Together Starts with Us.
This September, Humane Animal Society (HAS) is kicking off ErDoMeRa 2026, a month-long campaign dedicated to protecting our community, street dogs, and pets against rabies!
Together, our goal for September is ambitious but critical:
💉 1,000 dogs vaccinated
📍 12 free vaccination drives
🏫 12 outreach & awareness sessions
🛠️ 4 specialized workshops & trainings
Every step toward a rabies-free community begins with awareness and action. Throughout the entire month of September, rabies vaccinations are completely FREE for any dog brought directly to the HAS shelter.
Rabies is 100% preventable. Join hands with us to keep our streets safe and our animals protected, because we are truly .💪

Zoul suffered from a severe case of facial TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) leaving him with deep nasal wounds, heavy pus discharge, and excruciating pain with every breath.
He was exhausted from enduring the illness on his own, but behind his quiet gaze was an incredible will to survive.🥺
We stepped in with a targeted treatment plan aided by chemotherapy to tackle the tumor head-on. Day after day, Zoul bore the brunt of trauma with unbelievable patience. Slowly, the swelling receded, and the tumor regressed.✨
Look at him today! With his tail wagging happily, Zoul has officially been released back to his community. He fought through the darkest days alone, but today he walks free, healthy, and surrounded by love! 🐾❤️
