Library, Art & Craft Workshop and an open space for everyone
The motivation for starting Aseemit Kitaabghar is my son Dhaval who is in the Autism spectrum. He is a bright individual and unlike the established opinion about autistic individuals , loves to meet people and socialize. Besides that he is good with computers and gadgets. Loves to do complex word search puzzles. Like any other adult in
early twenties, Dhaval also longs to have a life like that of his working parents and school going younger brother. He wants to go to “office” everyday and “ work”’. So after he passed out as a trainee from the Centre of Vocational Training (CVT) being run by the Latika Roy Foundation in Dehradun, inspite of trying hard both at our level and that of CVT, there was no place which would offer him so called “work”opportunity. However he kept on working on his art and craft in a sheltered workshop at home.We kept on thinking about how we can come up with a place which can provide a platform to him and also others.A library and reading space thus seemed to be an ideal meeting point for meeting others and become an integral part of the society. Currently following is on offer at Aseemit Kitaabghar
